Adjustable interbody fusion device and method of use
Interbody fusion devices, interbody fusion device systems, insertion tools, methods for assembling an interbody fusion device, and methods a method for inserting a medical device between two vertebral bodies are disclosed. The interbody fusion device includes a body member with a pivot cylinder, a superior member with a pivot channel that is configured to engage the pivot cylinder, and a movement mechanism for moving the superior member relative to the body member. The interbody fusion device systems may include an interbody fusion device and an insertion tool. Also disclosed is a method of assembling an interbody fusion device. In addition, a method for inserting a medical device between two vertebral bodies in a spine is disclosed.
BIOCOMPATIBLE STRUCTURE, AND FABRICATING METHODS AND APPLICATIONS OF SAME
A biocompatible structure includes a scaffold obtained from a 3D structure. The 3D structure includes base layered structures, each of which includes at least a first layer and a second layer surrounded by the first layer. The first layer includes at least one of first, second and third media. The second layer includes at least another of the first, second and third media. The first medium comprises bone particles. The second medium comprises a polymer dissolvable in a first solvent. The third medium comprises solid particulates dissolvable in a second solvent different than the first solvent. The 3D structure is treated with the second solvent to dissolve the solid particulates so as to form pores at positions of the solid particulates therein, thereby resulting in the scaffold having a porosity adjustable by sizes of the solid particulates and concentration of the solid particulates in the 3D structure.
CEMENT RETAINING IMPLANT STEM FOR PERMANENT FIXATION
The present invention relates to a stem for or of an implant having a longitudinal axis and at least one recess adapted for cemented implantation into the medullary cavity and/or a cavity created by surgery of a long bone, characterized in that the recess is interrupted by a barrier. Further the present invention relates to a method for preparing a stem of an implant according to any one of the preceding claims for implantation, comprising the step of placing cement into the recess (12) on both sides of the barrier.
Anisotropic Materials in Medical Devices
A system and method for improving upon an ability of a surgeon to repair traumatic bone injury using new materials, components, and structures. A structure may be used as an implant or a component of an external fixator for a fractured long bone with that structure having anisotropic and viscoelastic properties, such as through additive manufacturing techniques.
Bone fusion device
A bone fusion device provides stability to bones during a bone fusion period. The bones include, for example, the vertebrae of a spinal column. The bone fusion device comprises one or more extendable tabs attached to the bone fusion device by associated rotating means. The bone fusion device is preferably inserted by using an arthroscopic surgical procedure. During arthroscopic insertion of the device, the tabs are pre-configured for compactness. In this compact configuration, the tabs are preferably deposed along and/or within an exterior surface of the bone fusion device. After the bone fusion device has been positioned between the bones, one or more tab(s) are extended. In the preferred embodiment, the position of each tab is related to a positioning element and extending blocks. Typically, the tabs advantageously position and brace the bone fusion device in the confined space between the bones until the bones have fused.
Expandable interbodies and related methods
The present disclosure relates to expandable interbodies that include superior and inferior shells and a control assembly positioned between and inside of the shells, the control assembly including nested cages operably connected to each other with an adjustment screw. Rotation of the adjustment screw translates the cages relative to each other, which in turn causes the shells to open or expand.
Spinal implant system and method
A spinal implant includes a first member that is curved along an axis between opposite ends. The first member defines a bore and a first thread. A second member is positioned in the bore and is curved between opposite ends. The second member includes a second thread engaged with the first thread. The second thread includes a series of gear teeth. A third member is positioned in the bore and is curved between opposite ends and includes opposite ends. A driver includes a gear configured to engage the gear teeth such that rotation of the driver relative to the first member and the second member rotates the second member relative to the first member to translate the second member relative to the first member along the axis. Systems and methods are disclosed.
Tissue Integration Devices And Methods Of Making The Same
One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a tissue integration device. The tissue integration device can be produced by forming a polymer mixture into a shape. The polymer mixture can include a polymer resin and a growth-promoting medium. Next, at least one polymer forming the polymer resin can be oriented in at least one direction. The shaped polymeric material can then be formed into the tissue integration device.
CEMENT PACKING KYPHOPLASTY SURGICAL DEVICE AND METHOD
Apparatus and associated methods relate to a balloon kyphoplasty surgical device comprising an extrusion tube having internal fluid channels and a support wire, a port arrangement positioned on a proximal end of the extrusion tube and a balloon arrangement positioned on a distal end of the extrusion tube, the balloon arrangement resulting in a cubic shape when inflated by the port arrangement. An exemplary implementation may be configured with multiple inner balloons housed in an outer balloon to create a specific shape. Some designs may be configured with multiple ports designed to individually and independently inflate each inner balloon and outer balloon. The outer balloon may be inflatable. The outer balloon may be sealed off, constraining inflation of the inner balloons to create a cubic-like shape when the inner balloons are inflated within the sealed outer balloon, resulting in improved vertebral structure stabilization by increased surface area lifting the bone.
OFFSET ADAPTERS, TRIAL IMPLANT SYSTEMS, AND IMPLANT SYSTEMS ALLOWING FOR SELECTABLE ECCENTRICITY
The present disclosure is directed offset adapters, trial implant systems, shoulder implant systems, and methods for total shoulder replacement, wherein the eccentricity of a humeral head relative to a humeral anchor and resected proximal portion of a humerus is selectable by a surgeon. A humeral head implant system includes a humeral head, an adapter, and humeral anchor. An offset adapter is operable to connect the humeral head to a humeral anchor. The offset adapter includes a first tapered cylindrical portion having a first axis, a second tapered cylindrical portion having a second axis, and the first axis being eccentrically disposed relative to the second axis of the adapter. A trial humeral head system includes a trial humeral head, a pin guide, and a trial adapter.
