The implant portion is formed from a material (e.g., CoCr) more dense than the material of the anchor portion (e.g., Ti) and includes a fixation cavity to receive at least a portion of the anchor fixation head (AFH), the fixation cavity includes an anchor facing surface (AFS) configured to form a frictional connection with the IFS, and a load bearing surface having a contour for articulating against a cooperating articulating surface of a second bone of the joint.

There is disclosed a bone fixation device that can include a cage having an optional mesh portion. The bone fixation device can be configured to couple a leg portion to a foot portion of a user's body. In at least one embodiment, the device includes at least one cage having a plurality of struts forming cells. There can be an optional mesh portion having a pre-set porosity that can be either constant or variable in density. In at least one embodiment there can be a cage portion which is substantially spherical shaped. Alternatively, the device can be substantially egg shaped. In at least one embodiment there can be a central post hole for receiving a post. In another embodiment at least one plate or shaft can connect to the cage.

The present invention discloses a metal-ceramic composite joint prosthesis and applications and a manufacturing method thereof. The joint prosthesis comprises a metal body and a ceramic body, wherein the metal body is integrally formed and comprises a porous structure layer, a boundary layer and a root-like layer, the boundary layer is located between the porous structure layer and the root-like layer, the root-like layer comprises a plurality of root-like filament clusters connected to the boundary layer but not in contact with one another, each root-like filament cluster comprises a main root perpendicularly connected to the boundary layer and a plurality of fibrous roots connected to the lateral side of the main root, the fibrous roots extend obliquely towards the side away from the boundary layer, and the ceramic body covers the root-like filament clusters and is formed on the boundary layer. The joint prosthesis achieves the compositing of metal and ceramic, thereby achieving both a wear-resistant ceramic body required for a joint friction surface and a porous metal structure with a good bone ingrowth effect required for an osseointegration surface. The root-like filament clusters of the root-like layer are rooted in the ceramic body, to form a tight and stable connection between the ceramic body and the metal body, and the root-like clusters being not in contact with one another prevents the ceramic body from locally breaking or cracking.

A lower edge of the first surface is joined to a lower edge of the second surface. The first surface and the second surface are disposed at an angle. The cutting system has a body having a first guide and a second guide for resecting a cutout in a humeral head, in which the cutout has a first surface and a second surface corresponding to the first surface and the second surface of the implant.

An expansion device or tool is used to move the substantially parallel pair of plates apart along the first axis. A core is disposed between the pair of plates, and the core permits the vertebral endplates to move relative to one another. A ball limiter or ball extender prevents the core from being extruded from between the substantially parallel plates.
