APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INSTALLING AN ACETABULAR LINER ON AN ACETABULAR CUP
An acetabular prosthesis assembly includes an acetabular shell component and an acetabular bearing component. The shell component includes a concave inner wall having a tapered surface with multiple anti-rotation slots defined therein. The bearing component includes a convex outer wall as well as an annular flange and multiple anti-rotation keys extending radially outward from the outer wall. When the anti-rotation keys are positioned in rotational alignment with the anti-rotation slots, the flange of the bearing component is positioned in contact with the tapered surface of the shell component. When the anti-rotation keys are positioned out of rotational alignment with the anti-rotation slots, the flange is spaced apart from the tapered surface. Methods for assembling and using the acetabular prosthesis assembly are also disclosed.
Expandable interbody implant
An expandable implant having superior and inferior endplates disposed on opposite sides of a core is disclosed. The superior endplate may include a first screw engagement surface disposed on a proximal end thereof and the inferior endplate may include a second screw engagement surface disposed on a proximal end thereof. A pin may extend through corresponding pin apertures of the superior endplate, the inferior endplate, and the core. In various embodiments, the superior endplate and inferior endplate are hingedly connected to the core via the pin. The implant may include a locking screw movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the locking screw may urge an engagement surface of the superior endplate and inferior endplate such that corresponding interior surfaces of the superior and inferior endplates frictionally engage against a corresponding exterior surface of the core.
Implant insertion tool for implanting an acetabular component and associated surgical method
An implant insertion tool for use during a surgical procedure to implant an acetabular cup component into a surgically-prepared acetabulum of a patient's hip includes a metallic elongated shaft, a removable polymeric grip, and a locking nut to secure the grip to the elongated shaft. Such a modular design allows the implant insertion tool to be dissembled prior to sterilization.
TIBIAL COMPONENT
In a tibial component, a tibial block is fixed to a keel portion of a tibial tray. Accordingly, an augment member can be easily attached to the tibial tray without a through hole being formed in the tibial tray.
Orthopaedic surgical instrument system having an anterior-loading tibial bearing trial and associated surgical method of using the same
An orthopaedic surgical instrument system includes a tibial base trial and a tibial bearing trial. The tibial bearing trial is installed on the tibial base trial from the anterior side of the patient's tibia during an orthopaedic surgical procedure.
Expandable implant assembly
An expandable includes a base member having a top surface and a bottom surface opposite the top surface, and an adjustable member adjustably coupled to the base member and movable between a first, collapsed position, and a second, expanded position. The adjustable member has a top surface and a bottom surface opposite the top surface. The top surface of the adjustable member and the bottom surface of the base member form a first angle while the adjustable member is in the first, collapsed position, and the top surface of the adjustable member and the bottom surface of the base member form a second angle while the adjustable member is in the second, expanded position. The first angle is different from the second angle.
COUPLING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Various systems and methods are disclosed for joining multiple components of a prosthesis. For example, a system includes a first component having a body extending from a first end to a second end. Each of the first and second ends including a coupling element. At least one end including a male coupling element including a detent disposed within a hole defined by a protrusion, the detent being biased by a biasing member. A method includes coupling a first component to a second component. Coupling the first component to the second component includes aligning a female engagement element provided by the first component with a male coupling component provided by the second component and inserting the male coupling element into the female coupling element.
EXPANDABLE IMPLANT ASSEMBLY
An expandable implant includes a base member including a top surface, a first end, and a second end, and defining a central cavity positioned between the first end and the second end; an adjustable member including a top surface and at least one control channel, wherein the adjustable member is adjustably coupled to the base member and movable between a first, collapsed position, and a second, expanded position; a control shaft rotatable received by the base member, wherein rotation of the control shaft cause relative movement of the adjustable member relative to the base member; and at least one control member received on the control shaft and by the control channel, wherein rotation of the control shaft causes the control member to translate along the control shaft and along the control channel.
EXPANDABLE IMPLANT ASSEMBLY
An expandable implant is disclosed. The expandable implant includes a base member having a top surface and a bottom surface opposite the top surface, and an adjustable member adjustably coupled to the base member and movable between a first, collapsed position, and a second, expanded position.
