A prosthetic device configured to function as a joint has a first joint component configured to be fixed to a first bone and a second joint component configured to engage the first joint component. The second joint component has an anchoring base configured to be fixed to a second bone, and a cup configured to be connected to the anchoring base. The cup has a cylindrical wall defining an outer surface of the cup, a cavity formed by a spherical recess inside of a circular edge at a top of the cylindrical wall, and an attachment post extending away from the cavity and configured to connect to the anchoring base. The attachment post is aligned with a center of a circle defined by the circular edge and an axis of the attachment post is parallel to the cylindrical wall.

The disc includes an inferior endplate having a lower vertebral contacting surface and an upper surface, wherein the lower vertebral contacting surface of the inferior endplate has a central portion and wherein the upper bearing surface has a concavity disposed opposite the central portion. A core is positioned between the superior and inferior endplates, the core having upper and lower core bearing surfaces configured to mate with the bearing surfaces of the superior and inferior endplates. The upper vertebral contacting surface of the superior endplate has a different shape than the lower vertebral contacting surface of the inferior endplate.

A second endplate is provided with a first surface configured to substantially engage with a second vertebral body and a second surface comprising a convex contact surface, and the second endplate having a securing element positioned along and above the second surface defining a first and second window on opposing sides of the second surface. The securing element extends along the width and length of the lower endplate and configured with an access hole. An extension portion extends from the first surface of the first endplate through the access hole of the securing element and contacts the second surface of the second endplate.

An acetabular hip implant and method includes an acetabular shell component having a first feature and a first insert having a second feature that cooperates with the first feature of the acetabular shell component and further includes a third feature. The implant further includes a second insert having a fourth feature that cooperates with the third feature of the first insert and further includes a fifth feature. A femoral head component includes a sixth feature that cooperates with the fifth feature. Interaction between the first and second features, between the third and fourth features, and between the fifth and sixth features mechanically constrains the acetabular hip implant to prevent dislocation of the femoral head during rotation.

MOBILE CAGE SYSTEM FOR RESTORING MOTION KINEMATICS OF THE SPINE
A mobile cage system for restoring motion kinematics of the spine featuring a pair of opposing caps that form a cavity and a nucleus disposed in the cavity. The system allows for motion of the caps relative to the nucleus. The mobile cage system provides sufficient support so as to eliminate the need for incorporation of a metal plate or rod and pedicle screws that may be used for spinal fusions. The mobile cage system of the present invention also prevents vertical collapse of the vertebrae and complete bone fusion, and the mobile cage system helps preserve intervertebral motion of the spine.
