EXPANDABLE VERTEBRAL BODY REPLACEMENT DEVICE AND METHOD
An expandable vertebral body device, system, instrument, and methods of assembly and using the device, system, and instrument are disclosed. The vertebral body device includes a body with a first end and a second end, a first rotating member rotatably coupled to the first end, a second rotating member rotatably coupled to the second end, a first extension member moveably coupled to the first end, and a second extension member moveably coupled to the second end. The expandable cage system comprises a vertebral body device and an insertion instrument. Methods for assembling and using the vertebral body device and instrument are also disclosed.
IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE WITH THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE BODY AND METHOD FOR FORMING THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE BODY
An implantable medical device is disclosed comprising a thermoplastic composite body having anterior, first lateral, second lateral, posterior, superior, and inferior surfaces, and at least one dense portion and at least one porous portion which are integrally formed. The at least one dense portion is formed of a first thermoplastic polymer matrix that is essentially non-porous, and which is continuous through a thickness dimension from the superior surface to the inferior surface. The at least one porous portion is formed of a porous thermoplastic polymer scaffold having a second thermoplastic polymer matrix which is continuous through the thickness dimension. A method for forming the thermoplastic composite body is disclosed comprising disposing a first powder mixture in a first portion of a mold, disposing a second powder mixture in a second portion of the mold, simultaneously molding the first powder mixture and the second powder mixture, and leaching porogen.
Intervertebral implant with fixation geometry
An intervertebral spacer implant (80) is provided with a retention mechanism (86) to help alleviate expulsion and movement of the implant when placed in the spine while providing an implant that is easier to insert in the spine. In one embodiment the retention mechanism comprises a keel on at least one of the inferior or superior faces of the spacer implant preferably extending in an anterior-posterior direction. In another embodiment the implant comprises a spacer (84) and a plate (82), the plate comprising a supplemental or alternative retention mechanism. In one embodiment the retention mechanism comprises one or more holes (88) in the anterior end of the plate. In yet another embodiment, the retention mechanism comprises one or more blades that are in a first position when inserted and are preferably rotated to a second position that engages the superior and inferior vertebrae.
Revision implant augments, systems, and methods
A revision implant component comprising a body having a plurality of screw holes and a tapered head configured to engage a talar dome component of a multi-component ankle prosthesis. A surgical method is disclosed which includes creating an incision in a patient, exposing a multi-component ankle prosthesis implanted in a patient, disassembling at least one component of the multi-component ankle prosthesis, affixing a revision implant component to non-damaged bone using screws, and coupling the revision implant component to a talar dome of the multi-component ankle prosthesis.
Implantable drug eluting device comprising a microporous structure
Implantable drug-eluting device (1) comprising a microporous structure (2) having regularly arranged pores (4, 5) in at least two different uniform sizes, and manufacturing method. The pores are configured for receiving a drug (9) and are being connected by interconnections (6, 7). Interconnections (6) originating from pores (4) of a first size have a first elution area and interconnections (7) originating from pores (5) of a second size have a second elution area. The interconnections convey the drug (9) to a surface of the device for elution to surrounding tissue. The ratio between the first and the second elution areas is predefined and selectable. The differently sized elution areas provide for different outflow rates. This allows for simple but reliable dispensing of drugs at positively controlled and well determined rates. Particularly, this enables a single implantable device to dispense drugs over preselectable durations of time, like short-term or long-term.
THREADED IMPLANTS AND METHODS OF USE ACROSS BONE SEGMENTS
A threaded implant can be provided with an elongated main body having external threads configured to thread into bone, and an internal support structure located within the external threads. The internal support structure has a helical arrangement that extends in an opposite direction to the external threads. Other threaded implants and methods are also disclosed.
Method and apparatus for minimally invasive insertion of intervertebral implants
A dilation introducer for orthopedic surgery is provided for minimally invasive access for insertion of an intervertebral implant. The dilation introducer may be used to provide an access position through Kambin's triangle from a posterolateral approach. A first dilator tube with a first longitudinal axis is provided. A second dilator tube may be introduced over the first, advanced along a second longitudinal axis parallel to but offset from the first. A third dilator tube may be introduced over the second, advanced along a third longitudinal axis parallel to but offset from both the first and the second. An access cannula may be introduced over the third dilator tube. With the first, second, and third dilator tubes removed, surgical instruments may pass through the access cannula to operate on an intervertebral disc and/or insert an intervertebral implant.
Expandable intervertebral spacers
The technical description relates to an expandable intervertebral spacer configured to engage an intervertebral disk. An example expandable intervertebral spacer includes a main body, a first endplate, a second endplate, a driving member, and an actuation member. The expandable intervertebral spacer is transitions from a first configuration to a second configuration by structural interfacing between steps defined on the first endplate, the second endplate, and the driving member. Steps include a surface that lies on a plane disposed at a non-parallel angle to the longitudinal axis of the intervertebral spacer.
ARTIFICIAL ARTICULATION HAVING STABLE FIXING MEANS FOR UNICOMPARTMENTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY
An artificial articulation having stable fixing means for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty is stably attached to the top of a tibia in order to permit a sliding motion of an artificial joint attached to the bottom of a femur. The artificial articulation includes an implant hat part which a curved surface structure that makes surface contact with the artificial joint attached to the bottom of the femur is formed on an upper surface thereof, and protrusions protruding by a predetermined height in a direction of the top of the tibia are formed in large numbers on a lower surface thereof, and a distally extending stem configured to be formed to protrude downward by a predetermined length from the lower surface of the implant hat part, and to be inserted into the tibia by a predetermined depth from the top of the tibia and attached thereto.
Structure of porous spinal implant
Provided is a structure of a porous spinal implant including a cage body inserted between adjacent vertebral bodies and divided by an upper surface, a lower surface, a left surface, a right surface, a front surface, and a rear surface, a plurality of vertical pores formed on the upper surface and the lower surface of the cage body, and a plurality of horizontal structures stacked on the left surface and the right surface of the cage body, wherein the plurality of vertical pores and the plurality of horizontal structures are each formed in a pattern that repeats in up-down, left-right, and front-rear directions. The structure of a porous spinal implant is capable of reducing strength of a cage body close to that of a vertebral body.
