IMPLANT WITH ABILITY TO CAPTURE EXTRAVASATING FIXATION MEDIUM
A surgical implant with recesses adapted to capture fixation medium that extravasates during implantation. The implant includes an elongated stem having a distal tip configured for insertion into an implant receiving area of a patient. A collar having recesses for capturing extravasating fixation medium is attached on the stem. The collar can be fixed to the stem by a separable collar-engagement feature or the collar can be fixed to the stem via structures on the stem.
Devices and methods for bone fixation
Devices and methods for bone fixation including a bone fixation system including a bone plate or intervertebral spacer including a plurality of apertures dimensioned to receive bone fasteners and at least one polymeric element capable of transitioning from a solid state to a flowable state. The polymeric element transitions to a flowable state as a result of exposure to ultrasonic vibration. The polymeric element is placed on the bone plate or intervertebral spacer adjacent a fastener in an aperture and acts to prevent rotational and/or translational movement of the fastener relative to the bone plate or intervertebral spacer.
ARTIFICIAL VERTEBRAL ENDPLATES AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
In a general aspect, an apparatus can include a plate configured for implantation in a body of a patient. The plate can include a plurality of pores and be configured for placement between a cancellous bone of a spinal vertebra and a corresponding cartilaginous endplate as a replacement for a bony endplate of the spinal vertebra.
Spinal interbody cage comprising a bulk interbody cage, a top face, a bottom face, pillars, and slots
Spinal interbody cages are provided that include a bulk interbody cage, a top face, a bottom face, pillars, and slots. The pillars are for contacting vertebral bodies. The slots are to be occupied by bone of the vertebral bodies and/or by bone of a bone graft. The spinal interbody cage has a Young's modulus of elasticity of at least 3 GPa, and has a ratio of the sum of (i) the volumes of the slots to (ii) the sum of the volumes of the pillars and the volumes of the slots of 0.40:1 to 0.90:1.
AUGMENTATION DEVICE
The invention relates to an augmentation device comprising an annular cone surrounding a channel which extends axially along a longitudinal axis of the augmentation device from a proximal cone end to a distal cone end, wherein an outer diameter of the cone decreases from the proximal cone end in the direction of the distal cone end.
Bone pads
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for bone preparation with designed areas having accurate tolerance profiles to enable improved initial fixation and stability for cementless implants and to improve long-term bone ingrowth/ongrowth to an implant. One method includes preparing a bone surface to receive a prosthetic implant thereon by resecting the bone surface using a first cutting path to create a first resected region and resecting the bone of the patient using a second cutting path to create a second resected region at least partially overlapping the first resection region. The second cutting path is different than the first cutting path and either manual or robotic cutting tools can be used for creating the first and second resected regions.
INTERVERTEBRAL DEVICES
The present invention relates to an intervertebral fusion device (10) comprising a superior component (20), an inferior component (40), and a core component (80) inserted there between. The intervertebral fusion device further comprises first and second retention mechanisms which resist ejection of the core component from between the superior and inferior components. Each of the first and second retention mechanisms comprises first and second portions. One of the first and second portions is unitary with one of the superior and inferior components. The other of the first and second portions is unitary with the core component. The first and second portions each comprise an inter-engaging formation which are urged in an opposite direction. The first inter-engaging formation is urged to inter-engage with the second inter-engaging formation upon insertion of the core component between the superior and inferior components.
INTERVERTEBRAL DEVICES
The present invention relates to an intervertebral fusion device (10) comprising a superior component (20), an inferior component (40) receivable in an intervertebral space between first and second vertebrae, with the core component (80) insertable between the superior and inferior components to determine a separation between the superior and inferior components. The superior, inferior components and core components comprise respective formations and profiles. The formations (54, 68) present a barrier to separation of the core from one of the inferior and superior components during insertion of the core component. The profiles guide the core component during insertion of the core component while presenting no barrier to separation from each other during its insertion. The components comprise further formations (39, 76) which present a barrier to separation of the components from each other once the core has been fully inserted between the inferior and superior components.
POROUS SPINAL IMPLANT
A surgical implant and a surgical kit. The surgical implant has a body portion comprising a first hole formed in an exterior surface of the body portion, a second hole adjacent the first hole, and at least one through-hole within the body portion and extending entirely thought a depth of the body portion extending entirely thought a depth of the body portion. The implant has a central opening abutting the body portion and extending through the body portion. The first hole has a first sidewall and a first cavity in the body portion, the second hole has a second sidewall and a second cavity in the body portion, and the first cavity and the second cavity have an interconnected opening there between. The surgical kit includes the surgical implant and an intervertebral insertion device.
