Disc replacement device and method of use

A disc replacement device including a first body member with a convex articulation surface and a second body member with a concave articulation surface is disclosed. When operably positioned, the convex articulation surface engages the concave articulation surface to provide for movement therebetween. The disc replacement device also includes a first opening in the first body member and a second opening in the second body member, wherein the openings are angled and extends from the front aspects of the body members through the external surfaces. The disc replacement device further includes at least two bone fasteners for insertion into the first and second openings to secure the disc replacement device to a first and second vertebra. An interbody motion device and fusion implant, as well as a surgical method for implantation are also disclosed.

Liner system

A prosthesis according to the present disclosure includes a shell. A liner is disposed within the shell, and a femoral head may be disposed within the liner. A locking mechanism may assist in securing the liner within the shell. The locking mechanism may be removed when the shell, liner, and femoral head are implanted. The shell extends beyond a hemisphere of the shell, and the liner extends beyond a hemisphere of the liner.

Meniscus prosthetic devices with anti-migration or radiopaque features

A prosthetic device for use as an artificial meniscus is disclosed. The prosthetic device restores stress distribution, stability, and function to the knee joint after removal of the damaged natural meniscus. In some embodiments, the prosthetic device includes an anti-migration feature that inhibits extreme movement within the joint while permitting free floating over a significant range. In one aspect, the anti-migration feature is an enlarged anterior structure or a posterior meniscus remnant engaging channel while in another aspect, the anti-migration feature includes a tethering member. Still further, removable radiopaque features are provided to enhance trialing of the implant prior to final implantation within the joint.

The present invention relates to a cage which is inserted between vertebral bodies of a cervical vertebra or spine during an operation for treating a cervical disc disease, myelosis, or fracture of the cervical vertebra or spine, and more particularly, to a cage with spikes, including upper and lower spikes which are attached to a clip inserted into a main body of the cage, unfolded upward and downward from the main body, and locked to vertebral bodies of a cervical vertebra or spine positioned at the top and bottom of the cage such that the cage is fixed and locked between the vertebral bodies.

ARTIFICIAL JOINT CUP

An artificial joint cup (2), in particular a hip joint cup, for implanting in a cavity in a bone. The joint cup (2) is, in particular, substantially in the form of a spherical dome cup, having a convex outer surface (3) and a concave inner surface (4). In addition, the joint cup (2) comprises an outer diameter (OD) and an inner diameter (ID). The ratio of the difference (D) between the outer diameter (OD) and the inner diameter (ID) in relation to the outer diameter (OD) is in a region between 0.5 and 0.07, preferably between 0.3 and 0.075, particularly preferably between 0.2 and 0.1. The joint cup (2) is manufactured from a ceramic material, and the convex outer surface (3) has a micro-structuring.

IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO CERAMIC FEMORAL RESURFACING HEAD PROSTHESIS

A ceramic femoral resurfacing head prosthesis (110) comprises a ceramic convex outer contact surface (112) engagable with an acetabulum of a patient or an acetabular cup prosthesis and a concave inner fixation surface (114) having an inner-land portion (128), the ceramic convex outer contact surface (112) and the concave inner fixation surface (114) extending to intersect each other at a rim (116). A ceramic stem (120) projects from the concave inner fixation surface (114), and is adapted to be received by a stem bore. The concave inner fixation surface (114) includes a skirt (134) which is cylindrical or substantially cylindrical, or frusto-conical or substantially frusto-conical, and at least one circumferentially elongate recess (136) at the skirt (134).
