Punch, Implant and Associated Method
A method of performing joint arthroplasty includes accessing a surface on a bone and supporting a stop with the accessed surface. The method includes positioning an instrument at least partially within the stop, the instrument having a body and a punch, the punch including a portion thereof having a shape similar to a shape of a stem of an implant, and rotating the stop with respect to the accessed surface based upon an indicia on one of the body and the stop so as to position the punch rotationally with respect to the accessed surface at a first orientation. The method further includes moving the body axially with respect to the stop to form a cavity in the bone with the punch at the first rotational orientation, the formed cavity having a shape similar to the stem of the implant, and implanting the stem of the implant into the cavity.
METHODS OF SECURING A FASTENER
Embodiments may include an attachable fastener, which may include a bondable material that may be secured to the end of an end effector. Vibration may be tuned to occur at a distal end of the fastener. Accordingly, the fastener may be used to generate heat at a distal point of contact. If the contact surface contains bondable material, that material may be softened. If the fastener includes bondable material at the point of contact, that material may also be softened by heat produced by vibration at the contact area. A hard implant or another polymeric material may function as the anvil.
Hip joint device and method
A medical device for treating hip joint osteoarthritis by providing a joint surface is provided. The medical device comprises at least two artificial hip joint surface parts, wherein said at least two artificial hip joint surface parts are adapted to be connected to each other to form an artificial hip joint surface during an operation. Furthermore a method of treating a hip joint of a human patient by providing said the medical device is provided. The hip joint comprising a caput femur and an acetabulum, the method comprises the steps of: cutting the skin of said human patient, dissecting an area of the pelvic bone on the opposite side from said acetabulum, creating a hole in said dissected area, said hole passing through said pelvic bone and into said hip joint of said human patient, and providing said medical device to said hip joint, through said hole in said pelvic bone of said human patient.
HIP INTERPOSITIONAL SPACER
A device and a method of treatment for osteoarthritis of a joint, such as the hip. The implant is an extensible cap that is placed over the femoral head.
HIP JOINT DEVICE AND METHOD
A medical device for implantation in a hip joint of a patient is provided. The medical device comprising a first piece being adapted to be fixated to the femoral bone and a second piece adapted to be fixated to the pelvic bone. The medical device further comprises a releasing which in a first state is adapted to hold said first piece attached to said second piece, and in a second state release said first piece from said second piece. The releasing member is adapted to change from said first state to said second state when a predetermined strain is placed on said releasing member by the connection with the first or second piece. The medical device further comprises a calibration member for calibrating the pre-determined strain required for said releasing member to change from said first state to said second state.
Method and device for joint replacement
A method of joint replacement including forming one or more arthroscopy portals adjacent a hip joint that includes, a femur with a femoral head and a pelvis with an acetabulum socket, inserting a hemiarthroplasty cup, having a cup inner surface and a cup outer surface, between a femoral head outer surface of the femoral head and an acetabulum outer surface of the acetabulum socket, wherein at least one of the femoral head outer surface and the acetabulum outer surface are unreamed.
Total hip replacement surgical guide tool
Disclosed herein is a surgical guide tool for use in total hip replacement surgery. The surgical guide tool may include a customized mating region and a resection guide. The customized mating region and the resection guide are referenced to each other such that, when the customized mating region matingly engages a surface area of a proximal femur, the resection guide will be aligned to guide a resectioning of the proximal femur along a preoperatively planned resection plane.
Hip Joint method
A surgical or arthroscopic method for resurfacing at least one surface of a hip joint of a human patient, using a medical device comprising an artificial hip joint surface, wherein the hip joint surface comprising an acetabulum surface and a caput femur surface, said method comprising the steps of: creating at least one hole passing into the hip joint, dissecting and preparing the hip joint, introducing at least one artificial hip joint surface, comprising at least one of an artificial acetabulum surface and an artificial caput femur surface, wherein said at least one artificial hip joint surface, comprising a first sealing member, creating a sealed hollow space between said first sealing member and one of the acetabulum surface or said artificial acetabulum surface and one of the caput femur surface or said artificial caput femur surface, selecting at least one artificial hip joint surface and injecting a material into said hollow space.
HIP JOINT DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD
An implantable medical device for implantation in a hip joint is provided. The medical device comprises: at least one artificial hip joint surface adapted to replace at least the surface of at least one of the caput femur and acetabulum. At least one artificial hip joint surface comprises: a positioning hole with at least one opening in said at least one artificial hip joint surface. The hole is adapted to be placed and dimensioned such that the medical device is adapted to be fitted using a positioning shaft and at least partly surround the shaft, for positioning the at least one artificial hip joint surface in a desired position in the hip joint. The hole is adapted to be fitted using the positioning shaft, when the shaft is stabilized and placed in at least one of the femoral bone and the pelvic bone for positioning said medical device inside the hip joint.
Punch, implant and associated method
A method of performing joint arthroplasty includes preparing a flat surface on a long bone, providing an instrument having a body and a punch extending from the body, the punch including a portion thereof having a shape similar to a stem of an implant, positioning a stop on the flat surface, rotating the stop with respect to the surface of the long bone based upon an indicia on one of the body and the stop so as to position the punch rotationally with respect to the surface to a desired orientation when the instrument is at least partially inserted into the stop, using the instrument to form a cavity in the long bone with the punch at the desired rotational orientation with the instrument inserted at least partially within the stop, the cavity having a shape similar to the stem of the implant, and implanting the stem into the cavity.
