PROSTHETIC STEM FOR A PROSTHETIC IMPLANT
20250161059 · 2025-05-22 ·

A prosthetic stem is configured to reduce the perioperative and intraoperative risk of catastrophic medical complications and death that may be caused by BCIS. The prosthetic stem includes one or more internal channels that are configured to self-regulate intramedullary pressure within a prepared bone channel as the stem is inserted into the channel, thus reducing the likelihood of BCIS without sacrificing biomechanics and maintaining a reliable and repeatable implantation process. The stem includes a head and a body, wherein the head is configured to serve as a joint replacement and the body is configured for insertion into the prepared bone channel of a patient. One or more internal channels in the stem are configured to control the pressure within the prepared bone channel during insertion of the stem into the channel, particularly by forming a path through which excess cement may flow as the stem proceeds into the prepared bone channel. By so limiting pressurization of cement during this process, the risk of BCIS complications and other potential harmful effects are reduced while still maintaining sufficient fixation of the prosthetic stem in the prepared bone channel.

A bone insert includes a cap having a convex top surface, an elongated stem, and a barrier between the cap and the stem. The stem of the bone insert is inserted into a hole formed in a host bone until the barrier is pressed against the exposed bone. The bone implant can be placed against a small focus contact point on the cap. Liquid cement can be injected into a space volume between the host bone and a bone implant. The cap can be made of a material and/or have surface features that create a strong bond with the cement when the liquid cement cures. The stem can be made of a material and/or have bone ingrowth surface features that create a strong bond with the bone.

A short-stem femoral implant suitable for use in hip arthroplasty configured to self-stabilise against sliding across the endo-cortex when implanted in a subject's femur. The femoral implant includes a distal end configured to engage in abutment with the lateral endo-cortex of the subject's femur at two distal locations such that when implanted, the femoral implant has a reduced tendency for sliding across the endo-cortex.

EXPANDABLE HIP STEM

Expandable hip stem implants, systems, and methods of implanting a hip stem during a hip arthroplasty are provided. The implant may include a proximal body having a neck terminating at a free end, a distal stem having a proximal portion coupled to the proximal body and a distal portion, and a plurality of expandable bodies aligned around the distal stem. The plurality of expandable bodies have a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration such that the plurality of expandable bodies expand radially outward away from one another.

Modular rotational device for torsionally stabilizing an endoprosthesis
12396860 · 2025-08-26 · ·

An improved modular rotational device includes a first and second threaded coupler for affixation along the stem of an endoprosthetic device, for example, a humeral prosthesis or a femoral prosthesis. The rotational device axis of rotation is coaxial with the stem, and its axis of rotation is located in close proximity to the intramedullary stem of the prosthesis or in close proximity to the distal articulation of the prosthesis. A housing has a proximal and distal end with an axial bore therethrough for receiving an elongated stem of the device. A lobe ring may be utilized to limit the axis of rotation of the device. Additional endoprosthetic devices may be attached to male or female threaded couplers, or to Morse tapers. A plurality of suture attachments facilitates attachment of soft tissue thereto.

The improved endoprosthetic device surface treatment encourages soft tissue attachment thereto. A porous mesh surface treatment creates on an outer surface of the endoprosthetic device a three-dimensional surface structure similar to cancellous bone. Suture attachment features are provided at various locations around the treated surface structure to initially affix a vascularized soft tissue to the treated surface. As the patient heals the soft tissue grows and infiltrates the porous mesh surface to achieve an attachment strength substantially equal to the surrounding tissue.

Short implanted prosthesis and method of making same
12611309 · 2026-04-28 ·

An implanted prosthesis for orthopedic and dentistry surgeries having a short body implant and an internal channel having an arborization system of orifices for delivery the necessary osteo-forming substances is disclosed. The implanted prosthesis can be created by additive manufacturing and includes a short body portion having a helicoid on the exterior wall, a collar, a neck, which are all aligned on the longitudinal axis of the prosthesis. The prosthesis neck has a hexagonal orifice for the insertion of dynamometric screwdriver to fix prosthesis in place. The hexagonal orifice communicates inside the body with a cylindrical orifice of variable length and diameter, which further communicates with the arborization system of orifices that provide lateral feed with cement and osteo-forming substances, and anchoring. In the middle of the central chamber there is a small threaded area in which a syringe to introduce cement or a threaded cap can be screwed.
