Actuated positioning device for arthroplasty and methods of use
A joint balancing insert with sensors and an actuated mechanism is disclosed. The joint balancing insert is used to balance a joint during arthroplasty surgery, as the sensors provide force, position and angular data relating to the movement of the joint, while the actuated mechanism allows for highly accurate and dynamic adjustments of the joint based on the data from the sensors. Various configurations of actuated mechanisms and sensors may be implemented in the insert to provide for manual or real time control of the insert, and customized interfaces are provided for visualized feedback of adjustments. Sensor data may also be collected and compared with expected or preferred data sets to provide adjustment recommendations and achieve better outcomes based on historical data.
PROSTHESIS INSTALLATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A system and method for allowing any surgeon, including those surgeons who perform a fewer number of a replacement procedure as compared to a more experienced surgeon who performs a greater number of procedures, to provide an improved likelihood of a favorable outcome approaching, if not exceeding, a likelihood of a favorable outcome as performed by a very experienced surgeon with the replacement procedure.
PROSTHETIC SPINAL DISK NUCLEUS
This specification describes technologies relating to an intervertebral disc prosthesis used to strengthen and stabilize the spine. Implementations of the technology described herein comprise a surgical device that is implanted through a small surgical incision into a portion of a human intervertebral disc, various support tools used to insert such a surgical device, and a method by which the device is used to strengthen and stabilize the spine.
BONE GRAFT DELIVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USING SAME
A bone graft delivery system for delivering graft material into a surgical site. The delivery system includes an elongate hollow tube constructed to receive the bone graft material and having a hollow interior and indicia formed on an exterior surface of the elongate hollow tube. The delivery system also includes a plunger adapted to extend in the elongate hollow tube and to form a substantially congruent fit with the hollow interior of the elongate hollow tube such that the plunger is precluded from rotating within the elongate hollow tube. The plunger is adapted to urge bone graft material through the elongate hollow tube to deliver bone graft material through an opening thereof.
Pneumatic surgical instrument and corresponding methods for implanting, extracting and reorienting orthopedic implants
Various embodiments of components, devices, systems and methods are provided for a pneumatic surgical instrument having a probe or an impactor disposed at a distal end thereof and configured to make contact with a selected portion of an orthopedic implant or device. The instrument is configured to generate a shock wave, which is then transferred to the distal end of the probe or impactor, and thence into the orthopedic implant or probe.
Bone graft delivery devices, systems and kits
A bone graft delivery kit includes a hollow tube having a proximal end and a distal end, an implant and a plunger. The hollow tube is configured to be connected to the implant, and to convey bone graft material to a graft receiving area in a patient. The plunger is configured to facilitate moving the bone graft material through the hollow tube. The implant includes openings configured for passage of the bone graft material therethrough, and internal ramps configured to direct the bone graft material to the openings.
Bi-directional pneumatic impactor for orthopedic devices
A bi-directional pneumatic impactor for imparting impact forces to an object. The impactor includes a support structure having at least one grip member and a piston reciprocally moveable along a piston axis. A pressure control system coupled with the support structure and adapted to be connected to a supply of pressurized air. The pressure control system reciprocatingly moves the piston along the piston axis to generate forceful impacts at one or both ends of the reciprocal movement. An impact transfer assembly disposed on the support structure is adapted to be coupled with the object whereby the impact transfer assembly transfers impact forces to the object in the driving and/or the retracting directions. A control spool may be used to control the supply of pressurized air to the piston cylinder. The impact transfer assembly may include a hammer pin extending axially through the piston.
SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A method for treating a spine includes the steps of: creating a surgical pathway in a body along a first surgical approach to a surgical site including vertebral tissue; creating a surgical pathway in the body along a second surgical approach to the surgical site including the vertebral tissue; disposing a fulcrum with an intervertebral disc space of the vertebral tissue via the first surgical approach; and manipulating the vertebral tissue via the second surgical approach. Spinal implants, surgical instruments and systems are disclosed.
PROSTHESIS INSTALLATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A system and method for allowing any surgeon, including those surgeons who perform a fewer number of a revision procedure as compared to a more experienced surgeon who performs a greater number of procedures, to provide an improved likelihood of a favorable outcome approaching, if not exceeding, a likelihood of a favorable outcome as performed by a very experienced surgeon with the revision procedure. An engine is operable in two distinctive selectable modes including a unidirectional mode providing only extractive forces and a bidirectional mode providing both extractive and insertional forces
SURGICAL IMPACTION CENTERING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A system and method for improving installation of a prosthesis. Devices include prosthesis installation tools, prosthesis assembly tools, site preparation systems, and improved power tools used in implant site preparation.
