PEDIATRIC LITHOTOMY POSITIONING SPLINT

A positioning splint for safely and securely positioning a pediatric patient into a lithotomy position. The splint comprises a toroid, wedge-shaped splint having an anterior and posterior jaw which is attached to shoulder straps or a jacket/vest that holds the splint in place during use. The wedge splint and shoulder attachments are padded. The wedge splint may have a disposable covering. Methods of using the splint to position a patient for urinary catheterization as well as for other procedures, exams and surgeries requiring unobstructed access to the perineal and anorectal areas. Additional wrist/hand and ankle/leg straps are used for conscious patients who are uncooperative or incompetent patients or in the case of a patient with involuntary movement disorders.

Device for the treatment of medial tibial stress syndrome and other conditions of the lower leg

A calf brace for the treatment of MTSS (shin splints) and other conditions of the lower leg, including the foot, includes a strap arrangement that is used to locate pressure nodes that target specific areas of a wearer's calf muscle to facilitate release of the calf muscle. In one embodiment, the straps are anchored to a sleeve that can be pulled onto the wearer's calf muscle over the foot. Targeted zones may include the point on the calf where the soleus muscle attaches to the posterior head of the fibula, the point where the soleus muscle attaches to the middle third of the tibia; and the back of the calf at approximately the junction of the Achilles tendon and the triceps surae muscle. A compressive rod may also be aligned with approximately the distal one third of the medial border of the tibia where periosteal elevation and inflammation is thought to occur.

An orthopedic system includes a base shell forming an opening over a dorsal aspect thereof and a dorsal shell contoured to generally correspond to the opening of the base shell. The base shell has a proximal member and a distal member connected to the proximal member, each has a semi-rigid shell configuration to protect and support a lower leg, an ankle, or a foot of a user when received in the orthopedic system. A flexible toe portion is attached to a distal terminal end area of the distal member and formed of a different material than the distal member. The flexible toe portion is arranged to terminate above an upper surface of the user's toes and to flex relative to the distal member and the toes so as to reduce the likelihood of pressure points on the toes from the distal member.

Determining whether a compression garment is worn by a wearer of the garment by analyzing a pressure signal waveform indicative of a fluid pressure in an inflatable and deflatable bladder of the compression garment. Variance detected in the pressure signal waveform during the analysis is indicative of a change in condition of the compression garment. In one aspect the change in condition is verified using confirmatory analysis. In another aspect, the variance is one of a pressure rise and a pressure impulse. In yet another aspect, the variance is an oscillating amplitude as a function of time representative of a pulse of the wearer.

Device for preventing and treating foot and leg ulcers

A device is configured to treat ulcers/chronic wounds. First, and intermediate insoles are constructed from including the semi-compressed felt. A third sole serving as the base of the device is made constructed from including Ethylene Vinyl Acetate EVA. A cavity with beveled edge in the first insole is configured to over-lap the chronic wounds or ulcerations. The cavity channels the drainage or extrude from the ulcerations to the intermediate insole where it is absorbed.

LEG BRACE

The present disclosure can provide a leg brace capable of reducing a pain in a knee while both enhancing its convenience and reducing the burden on an ankle. the leg brace including: a first pushing part that pushes a leg of the wearer outward so that an ankle bone is positioned above a heel bone; a second pushing part that pushes the leg of the wearer inward so that the ankle bone is positioned above the heel bone; a restraint part that restrains a positional relation between the first and the second pushing parts in which they face each other across the leg of the wearer; and a placement part on which a foot of the wearer is placed, the placement part being connected to the first pushing part or the second pushing part.

Diagnostic and therapeutic splints

Splints for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes are disclosed. In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to a splint system for diagnostic and/or therapeutic functions for a patient with a vascular impairment. In one embodiment, the splint system includes a splint having: a leg supporting portion and a foot supporting portion, that are configured to support and secure the leg and foot of the patient; a locally and/or remotely controllable portion for setting a dorsiflexion angle of the foot of the patient, including electrical and/or mechanical controls and one or more actuators for setting of the dorsiflexion angle, for providing treatment to improve vascular function; and a plurality of physiological parameter sensors for measuring physiological parameters of the leg and/or foot of the patient, wherein the physiological parameters are associated with vascular function in the leg and/or foot of the patient.
