Implementations of an arm sleeve that provides external assistance to the arm and shoulder during an arm motion are provided. In one implementation, the arm sleeve comprises a framework that includes a torso portion configured to be attached to the torso of a user and an arm portion configured to receive at least a portion of an arm of the user. The framework of the arm sleeve is a unitary construction of interconnected elastic members that define openings therebetween. The interconnected elastic members include a first elastic member configured to play an active part throughout an overhead throwing motion, a second elastic member configured to decrease the concentric contraction force necessary for shoulder abduction during the cocking phase of a throwing motion, and a third elastic member configured to assist eccentrically contracting muscles during the deceleration phase of a throwing motion. In another implementation, the framework of the arm sleeve is encased by an elastomeric cover.

Porous orthopedic or prosthetic support having removable cushioning and scaffolding layers
10524936 · 2020-01-07 ·

An orthopedic or prosthetic support including at least three layers that allows for aeration and cushioning of the enclosed area is described herein. The orthopedic or prosthetic support includes an inner cushioning layer which is compressed against the skin in use. An intermediate scaffolding layer is situated substantially parallel to the inner cushioning layer and is maintained in spaced apart relationship with the inner cushioning layer by spacer members. An exterior layer overlays the intermediate scaffolding layer and may be either a flexible breathable fabric such as velvet or a thermoplastic with a plurality of perforations. The inner cushioning layer and the intermediate scaffolding layer include a plurality of perforations providing air pathways through the two layers. The grid-like arrangement of spacer members also define air passages between the inner and intermediate layers which further enhance circulation of exterior air to the skin covered by the orthopedic or prosthetic support.

Conformable orthosis

A conformable and reconfigurable orthosis is provided. The conformable and reconfigurable orthosis comprises a central core metallic wire resistive heating element, an electrically insulating layer such as glass fiber or nylon fiber, and a structural layer of carbon fiber composites. The conformable and reconfigurable orthosis further comprises a thermal insulation and/or a skin compatible cushioning layer.

Braces for immobilizing a clavicle fracture in an infant and related methods
11890217 · 2024-02-06 · ·

Braces for immobilizing clavicle fractures in infants may include a garment of fabric sized and shaped to extend around a torso and along at least one arm of an infant. The garment may include a first closure configured to secure the garment around the torso of the infant, a second closure configured to secure the garment over a shoulder corresponding to a fractured clavicle of the infant, and a sleeve configured to extend around an upper and lower arm of the infant on a same lateral side of the garment as the second closure. The sleeve may include at least a third closure configured to secure the sleeve around the upper and lower arm of the infant. A portion of the sleeve may be affixed to a portion of the garment, the portion of the garment to which the sleeve may be affixed being located over the torso of the infant when the garment is secured around the torso of the infant.

Shoulder and arm support
10507130 · 2019-12-17 · ·

A shoulder and arm support for supporting either the left shoulder and arm or the right shoulder and arm of a patient. The support includes a case which has a shoulder strap secured thereto and a body strap secured thereto. The case has an interior compartment in which a resilient cushion and an air inflatable bladder are positioned. The case includes an outer panel which is pivotally secured to the upper panel of the case and which is pivotally movable between first and second positions. The inflation of the bladder causes the outer panel to be moved from its first position to its second position. The exterior surface of the upper panel has a plurality of arm straps adjustably positioned thereon.

Arm Banner Identification Safety Device

An arm banner identification safety device and methods of use are presented. Embodiments include a flexible material banner with an exterior surface. Wording or lettering and/or symbols identifying an organization, organization type, occupation, and/or position is displayed on some part of the exterior banner. The banner is designed to be worn on the forearm, is held in place by use of adjustable straps, and can be easily folded to be kept in a pocket or purse.

ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE FOR SCAPULOTHORACIC STABILIZATION

An orthopedic device is arranged for scapulothoracic stabilization, inclusive of features for biomechanical stabilization of the shoulder, scapula and spine, treated alone or in combination with assembly features for supporting an arm or shoulder. The orthopedic device may be arranged in a garment or shoulder harness such that either may include first and second strap systems for extending over first and second shoulders of a user, respectively, and each of the first and second strap systems forms a Figure 9 shape about the respective shoulder, with a strap section arranged to extend toward a waist stabilizer that may form part of the orthopedic device.
