Compressive Nasal Device and Method for Using the Same
20220104961 · 2022-04-07 ·

A nasal compressive device for preventing post-operative swelling following a rhinoplasty or other procedure performed on a user's nose or nasal cavity and prevent possible poly-beak deformities. The nasal compressive device includes nasal plugs and a nasal bridge disposed on a selectively actuated clip with a resilient spring portion. The user actuates the clip to open the nasal compressive device and then inserts the nasal plugs into their nostrils. The user then relaxes or closes the nasal compressive device which brings the nasal plugs into contact with an inner surface of their nasal cavity while also forcing the nasal bridge down on top of the user's dorsum. Once placed in the user's nose, the nasal compressive device also applies an upward force to the tip of the user's nose while also simultaneously providing a compression force over the user's dorsum, thereby reducing the amount of unwanted swelling and further shaping the nose.

SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES, AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDERS (TMD)
20220061750 · 2022-03-03 ·

A method for diagnosis of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and related systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In the method, a visual evaluation of the patient in a standing position is first conducted. Condyle position in ear canals of the patient is palpated during jaw movement. A hip level of the patient is evaluated when back teeth of the patient are closed. If hips are unlevel, a first spacer is inserted between front teeth of the patient. The condyle position felt in the ear canals of the patient are re-palpated during jaw movements with the first spacer in place. The patient then raises and lowers his or her body by going up on their toes, and dropping to their heels. A reevaluation of the hip level of the patient is conducted and a positive or negative TMD diagnosis is indicated based on the reevaluation of the hip level of the patient.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR OPPOSING TORQUE IMPARTED ONTO COCHLEAR IMPLANT MAGNETS BY MAGNETIC FIELDS

An apparatus, for use with a cochlear implant having a magnet and implanted within a patient having first and second ears, includes a first splint and a strap system, including at least a forehead strap and a chin strap, configured to position the first splint behind the first ear.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREPARING HOLLOW CORE CRANIAL REMODELING ORTHOSES
20210322200 · 2021-10-21 ·

A system for creating cranial remolding orthoses comprises a controller in data communication with an additive fabricator and a scanner. The controller has access to a database of mappings of nonstandard cranial shapes to desired cranial shapes, to cranial scan data for a patient with an existing cranium shape, and to patient-specific information about the patient. The controller has design software for determining from the scan data a development path from the existing cranium shape to a desired cranium shape, the development path comprising a plurality of development path stages. Fabrication software in the controller allows it to instruct the fabricator for fabricating a cranial remodeling orthoses corresponding to the development path without requiring a physical model. The orthoses comprise a monolithic hollow core shell of thickness varying according to the desired remodeling of the cranium, an inner soft liner; and a fastener disposed for mounting the orthoses on the cranium of the patient.

An ear splint for an ear is provided having a central portion having an exterior surface defining a first topology that is configured to dwell within an anterior scaphoid section of an ear, and a wing portion extending from the central portion and integrally formed therewith and at least partially surrounding an outer periphery of the central portion. The wing portion includes an exterior surface defining a second topology and is configured to be positioned along a postauricular area of the ear. The first magnetic device is disposed in the central portion and the second magnetic device is disposed in the wing portion. The magnetic retention feature exert a magnetic attractive force between the central portion and the wing portion such that at least a portion of the exterior surface of the central portion and at least a portion of the exterior surface of the wing portion contact the ear.

CUSTOM HEADWEAR MANUFACTURED BY ADDITIVE MANUFACTURE

Custom manufactured headwear for a subject's head is provided. The headwear comprises an inner layer shaped to contact the head of the subject at predetermined areas. The inner layer is deposited by an additive manufacturing device. The headwear further comprises an outer layer deposited by the additive manufacturing device. The inner layer and the outer layer are each formed by the additive manufacture device utilizing a device data file derived from a subject data file. The subject data file is representative of the shape of the head and the device data file determining the shape of the headwear.
