Chassis design for absorbent article

A disposable absorbent article may include a first waist region, a second waist region, a crotch region disposed between the first and the second waist regions, and a chassis having a topsheet, backsheet, absorbent core, and chassis periphery. The chassis periphery has a varying width, W.sub.v. The varying width W.sub.v has a first maximum width, W.sub.1, in the first waist region, a minimum width, W.sub.min, in the crotch region, and a second maximum width, W.sub.2, in the second waist region, wherein W.sub.1 is greater than W.sub.2.

DIAPER WITH TRANSVERSE BARRIERS

The current invention concerns an absorbent hygiene article suitable to be worn around the waist of a wearer, such as a diaper, diaper pants or incontinence diaper, the article comprising a leakage barrier comprising a pair of leg cuffs arranged longitudinally on the body-facing side of the article from the front region to the back region across the crotch region, a first leg cuff of said pair of leg cuffs being arranged near a first leg hole defining edge of the article and a second leg cuff of said pair of leg cuffs being arranged near a second leg hole defining edge of the article and a front barrier and/or a back barrier, wherein the front barrier and/or the back barrier comprises a liquid-impermeable nonwoven sheet comprising a weight of at most 18 gsm and in that the elastic members of the leg cuffs do not overlap with the front barrier and/or the back barrier. The present invention also pertains to methods and apparatuses for manufacturing the article and the leakage barrier.

ABSORBENT ARTICLE

An absorbent article includes an absorbent main body; a stomach-side member at an end portion on one side of the absorbent main body; and a back-side member at an end portion on another side. The absorbent main body has a pair of leak-proof walls in respective side end portions. Each of the leak-proof walls has a skin-side portion that includes a plurality of elastic members and a non-skin-side portion. The pair of leak-proof walls each have a joining portion in which mutually opposing surfaces of the skin-side portion and the non-skin-side portion are joined, and a non-joining portion above the joining portion. The mutually opposing surfaces are not joined in the non-joining portion. The joining portions are inward, with respect to the width direction, of leading ends of the leak-proof walls. Each of the joining portions is overlapped with the stomach-side member or the back-side member in an up-down direction.

In an underpants-type disposable diaper, three-dimensional gathers are provided on both sides in the width direction of an inner member. A fallen portion of each of the three-dimensional gather has a fallen non-stretchable portion to which a contraction force of gather elastic members does not act. A character representation is printed at a position in the fallen non-stretchable portion of the inner member, and this character representation is made visible from the inside of the diaper.

ABSORBENT ARTICLE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PULL-ON ABSORBENT ARTICLE

An absorbent article including an absorbent main body including an absorbent body. The absorbent main body having a longitudinal direction conforming to a vertical direction; and waist-circumference sections in a pair respectively located on one end side and another end side in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent main body. The waist-circumference sections each including an elastic memberstretchable in a lateral direction. The absorbent main body including a pair of extension sections respectively extending outward on two sides of the absorbent body. The extension sections each having an elastic member stretchable in the vertical direction. The extension sections are formed extending laterally outward from a position on a non-skin side of the absorbent body using a continuous sheet that is continuous in the lateral direction. A welded region having a predetermined length in the lateral direction is in a portion where each of the extension sections forms a leg opening.
