Acquisition-distribution-layers (ADL) comprising a hydroentangled composite are provided. The hydroentangled composite includes (a) a first outer layer including a first plurality of synthetic fibers, (b) a second outer layer including a second plurality of synthetic fibers, and (c) at least one core layer including cellulose fibers comprising natural cellulose fibers, synthetic cellulose fibers, or a combination thereof, in which the at least one core layer is located directly or indirectly between the first outer layer and the second outer layer. The first plurality of synthetic fibers, the second plurality of synthetic fibers, and the cellulose fibers are physically entangled together. The hydroentangled composite further comprises a three-dimensional topography defined by a first outermost surface of the hydroentangled composite, in which the three-dimensional topography includes a plurality raised portions and a plurality of recessed portions.

A dressing for treating a tissue site may include a base layer, a sealing member, a first and a second wicking layer, and an absorbent layer. The base layer may have a plurality of apertures and may be adapted to cover the tissue site. The sealing member and the base layer may define an enclosure. The first and the second wicking layer may each be disposed in the enclosure with the absorbent layer positioned between the first and the second wicking layer. A conduit comprised of an absorbent material that is vapor permeable and liquid impermeable may be in fluid communication with the dressing for providing reduced pressure to the dressing. Other dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Absorbent Articles With Channels

The present disclosure is directed, in part, to an absorbent article comprising a topsheet, a backsheet and absorbent core positioned at least partially intermediate the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent core comprises an absorbent material positioned within a core wrap. The absorbent core defines a first channel therein. A material is positioned at least partially intermediate the topsheet and the core wrap. The material defines a second channel therein.

Device to Reduce and Redirect Leaks

The device which may be attached inside or outside the pancreas/abdomen during surgery addresses leaks of pancreatic juice or pancreatic effluent (PE) after resection by redirecting and inactivating PE. Specifically the PE enzymes (proteases) are inactivated. Redirection is through an internal biodegradable self powered self eliminating drain with increasing gradient and then targeting or inactivating the effluent with active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) such as-protease inhibitors which are contained in graduated micro-encapsulated particles (GMEPs) coated with pH and time release shells which the device locates at optimum locations in the pancreas/abdomen. Another iteration is redirecting PE by containing the device within a mesh filled with GMEP comprising protease inhibitors (antiprotease) to inactivate PE before flowing out via openings in the mesh into the abdominal cavity as an inactivated innocuous fluid.

Incontinence detection optimization using directional wicking

An incontinence detection pad for detecting incontinence events includes a moisture absorbent layer that has non-embossed areas and embossed areas. The non-embossed areas have a first density of fibers of the layer, and the embossed areas have a second density of fibers of the layer that is greater than the first density. The incontinence detection pad further includes a plurality of electrodes positioned beneath the moisture absorbent layer and a transmitter connected to the plurality of electrodes and configured to transmit a signal indicative of a status of the moisture absorbent layer.
