A method of treating diabetes Type 2 by delivery of butyric acid, bile acid, long-chain fatty acid, or glutamine to the colon by bypassing the upper digestive tract, with the composition combined either by the same or different route of administration with a DPP-IV inhibitor such as vildagliptin.

Process for mesalazine solid formulations
11504331 · 2022-11-22 · ·

The present invention relates to a process to prepare solid pharmaceutical forms comprising a quantity of mesalazine comprised between 75 and 95%, i.e. between 1000 and 1600 mg of drug per dosage unit. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a granulate and/or tablets obtained/obtainable with the process according to the invention, preferably coated to allow the controlled release of the drug. Finally, the present invention relates to the use of the granulate and/or the tablets as a medicament, preferably for the treatment of chronic inflammatory pathologies that preferably affect the intestinal tract.

Lactuloside compounds and preparation and use thereof

The present disclosure relates to the field of pharmaceutical chemistry, and particularly to a compound represented by Formula (I), a preparation method and medical use thereof. In the compound represented by Formula (I), a lactulosyl group is connected to a heteroatom of genin (G) via a glycosidic bond, wherein the genin (G) is a group formed by removing one hydrogen atom from a heteroatom of an active pharmaceutical molecule, and “custom character” indicates that the lactulosyl group is connected to the heteroatom of the genin (G) via an α-glycosidic bond or a β-glycosidic bond. Pharmacokinetic experiments prove that the lactuloside compound according to the present disclosure can pass through the gastrointestinal tract of a mammal without being absorbed significantly by the gastrointestinal tract and hydrolyzed significantly by endogenous enzymes of a mammal host. Therefore, the lactuloside compound can arrive at the colon site of the mammal, and release an active drug in the colon under the action of colon flora. The lactuloside compound has a function of colon-localized drug release, and can be used for preventing or treating an intestinal disease. ##STR00001##

Oral formulations of cytidine analogs and methods of use thereof

There is provided an alkali metal salt of 4-chloro-N-[2-[(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-3-oxo-1, 2,4-thiadiazol-5-yl]benzamide and formulations thereof. This salt finds particular utility in the treatment or prevention of a disorder or condition ameliorated by the activation of AMPK.

ANTI-METHANOGENIC COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF

The present invention relates to, in part, methods and compositions for the treatment of methanogen-associated disorders such as, for example, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Particularly, modified-release formulations comprising at least one antimethanogenic statin are provided which release the antimethanogenic statin in the intestines.

EXTENDED RELEASE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING PYRIDOSTIGMINE

Extended release pyridostigmine dosage forms, suitable for maintaining stable plasma concentrations with reduced or minimized initial burst release/dose dumping of pyridostigmine, are provided. The dosage forms include matrix tablets, gastroretentive tablets, and pellets, the latter being suitable for dosing in capsules, tablets, and sachets, as well as for sprinkling on foodstuffs. The disclosure also provides methods for improving patient compliance by administering once-a-day extended release pyridostigmine bromide dosage forms that provide a superior controlled drug release.
