Filtration System for Preparation of Fluids for Medical Applications
A fluid treatment plant has a filter module including at least a first filter and a second filter connected in series and connectable to a supply of fluid. A pump is fluidly connected to the filter module and a controller with a fluid quality sensor is connected to detect a quality of the fluid between the first filter and the second filter. A filter module detector is connected to the controller configured to uniquely detect a filter module connected to the pump, and the controller is controls the pump responsively to a signal from the fluid quality sensor and the module detector. The controller is configured to continue pumping based on output of the quality sensor and/or based on output from the filter module detector.
DIALYSIS PATIENT CONNECTOR AND METHOD FOR PRIMING
A patient connector for dialysis is disclosed. In an example, a patient connector includes a housing including an inlet and an outlet and defining at least one aperture. The patient connector also includes a seal initially blocking the outlet and a hydrophobic filter covering the at least one aperture of the housing. The patient connector further includes a check valve positioned and arranged to prevent air from being vented from the housing via the at least one aperture and through the hydrophobic filter when the housing is under atmospheric pressure or negative pressure. The check valve is configured to allow air to be vented from the housing via the at least one aperture and through the hydrophobic filter when the housing is under positive pressure.
Bag Opening System
A system and apparatus for opening and emptying a bag of material includes a base having a pair of opposed sides and a central aperture through which material may flow. The system includes a pair of opposed doors rotatably mounted on a pair of door shafts, the edges of the pair of opposed doors forming an opening and a plurality of piercing blades pivotally mounted to the base on a pivot rod, the blades capable of pivoting to pierce said bag. The system further includes a cutting blade mounted transversely below the opening of the opposed doors, the cutting blade capable of linear motion across the opening.
Peritoneal Dialysis Systems, Devices, and Methods
A medical treatment system includes a disposable fluid circuit that includes a water inlet and a batch container arranged to hold a mixture, the mixture including water that is received from the water inlet and at least one concentrate. The fluid circuit also includes a drain line for draining fluid from the disposable fluid circuit, and a configurable fluid pathway with a plurality of fluid lines, the configurable fluid pathway connecting the water inlet, the batch container, a source of the at least one concentrate, and the drain line. A source of purified water supplies the purified water to the water inlet and a sensor detects a property of fluid in the disposable fluid circuit. A controller controls flowing of a first fluid followed by displacement by a second fluid causing the first fluid to flow to the sensor.
Container, use, dialyzer or preparation unit as well as method of manufacturing a concentrate
A container includes a dry concentrate designed such that the dry concentrate forms an acid liquid concentrate, or a part of an acid liquid concentrate, which is suitable for manufacturing a dialysis solution, on the dissolution of the dry concentrate in a liquid, preferably in water.
Filtration system for preparation of fluids for medical applications
A fluid preparation system has a sealed sterilized fluid circuit with a sealed sterilized container with a conductivity sensor in communication with an interior of said container. Further, at least one sealed connector is adapted for adding fluid to said container, and at least one sealed connector is adapted for removing fluid from said container. The conductivity sensor is contained in a test line in communication with said interior and is adapted to be connected to a source of suction thereby to draw a sample of contents of said container. Furthermore, the test line may have a check valve to prevent ingress of contaminants into said container, and the sealed connector is adapted for adding fluid to said container and may have an inline sterile filter. Furthermore, the system may have a controller that controls pumping actuators.
Fluid container for a hemodialysis system
A container for forming a solution for use in a hemodialysis device comprises a first portion comprising a powder, a second portion disposed separate from and in fluid communication with the first portion, and a filter disposed between the first portion and the second portion. The container is configured to receive a fluid flow into the first portion to at least partially dissolve the powder thereby forming a solution, such that the solution and at least a portion of the dissolved powder is passable through the filter into the second portion, and further such that any undissolved portion of the powder is not passable through the filter into the second portion. The filter may be configured such that the solution of the fluid and the at least the portion of the dissolved powder is filtered into the second portion of the container is homogenous.
Filtration system for preparation of fluids for medical applications
A system that fills multiple containers includes a filter with an inlet port and multiple outlet ports. The outlet ports are pre-attached to containers by respective filling lines of each container. Each container has an interior and each of the respective filling lines is connected to a respective container interior. All of the respective filling lines are sealed to the outlet ports and the containers such that the container interiors are isolated from an external environment except the inlet port, via the filter, forming a combined interior volume which is sterile. The system can produce batches of multiple sterile containers with sterile medicament in the containers.
Apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment, and method for operating an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment
The invention relates to an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment that comprises a device 1 for providing fresh dialysate and a drain 2 for used dialysate, a balancing device 4 for balancing fresh dialysate and used dialysate, an ultrafiltration device 15, and a dialyser 3 that is divided into a blood chamber 6 and a dialysate chamber 7 by a semi-permeable membrane 5. The invention further relates to a method for operating such an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment. The apparatus according to the invention is based on the use of the ultrafiltration device 15 of the blood treatment apparatus for raising the liquid level in the air separation device 12 on the secondary side of the dialysate system I. In the apparatus according to the invention, the ultrafiltration device 15 is designed such that the ultrafiltration device can be operated not only in an ultrafiltration mode, but also in a ventilation mode. In the ultrafiltration mode, the ultrafiltration device 15 is operated in such a way that used dialysate is removed from the container 12A of the first air separation device 12 whereas in a ventilation mode the ultrafiltration device 15 is operated in the opposite direction so that used dialysate is supplied into the container 12A of the first air separation device 12, as a result of which the liquid level 12D rises in the container of the first air separation device.
