Safety syringe with needle redirection device

A safety syringe comprising a needle redirection device that is desirably configured to bend the needle shaft forwardly of the barrel following an injection to thereby redirect the needle tip from a first position where it projects forwardly in coaxial alignment with the syringe barrel to a second position where the needle tip is covered or protected from incidental or accidental contact and associated needle sticks. Both sliding and pivoting embodiments are disclosed.

It is known that fluids, for example, drugs, may be administered via a syringe. It is further known that in some instances, a second fluid must be administered following the administration of a first fluid in order to flush the first fluid. There are numerous reasons for why such flushing may be required and/or desirable. For example, flushing ensures that a patient has received the entirety of a dose of the first fluid (e.g., a drug), that the first fluid does not mix and/or react with a subsequently administered (third) fluid that may be incompatible with the first fluid, and/or that the infusion lines are clean and/or primed for a subsequent infusion, to cite a few examples. The present invention is a novel syringe design that houses the flushing solution as part of the syringe to streamline the fluid delivery (drug) and the flushing solution subsequently.

Medical Delivery Device With Laminated Stopper

The present disclosure relates to a medical delivery device that includes a barrel having an inner surface, a plunger rod having a distal end inserted within the barrel, and a stopper attached to the distal end of the plunger rod and contacting at least a portion of the inner surface of the barrel. In at least one embodiment, the inner surface is hydrophilic. The stopper may include an elastomeric body, one or more fluoropolymer layers, and two or more ribs laminated with the one or more fluoropolymer layers. In some embodiments, the contact width between at least one rib having a sealing surface and the portion of the inner surface of the barrel measured at a compressibility of greater than about 7.9% of the stopper is less than about 1.0 mm.

DOSING SYRINGE

A dosing syringe comprising a barrel and a piston is provided. The piston is slidably receivable in the barrel and can move within the barrel from a maximum inserted position to a withdrawn position to draw a dose of product into the barrel. The syringe comprises means for pre-setting the withdrawn position, whereby to define the maximum dose which can be drawn into the barrel.

INJECTOR

An injector comprises a cylindrical barrel including a discharge port, a seal body coming into close contact with an inner circumferential surface of the barrel, a plunger for pushing and moving the seal body to the discharge port side of the barrel, and a stopper disposed on one of the barrel and the plunger and coming into elastic contact with the other in a radial direction of the barrel.

INJECTOR

An injector comprises a cylindrical barrel, a movable body housed in the barrel, and a plunger coming into separable contact with the movable body. The movable body includes a main body having an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of the barrel, a disk-shaped seal body disposed on the main body and including an outer circumferential end brought into close contact with an inner circumferential surface of the barrel, and at least one projecting portion projecting from the main body toward the inner circumferential surface of the barrel. A distance from a central axis of the movable body to a leading end of the at least one projecting portion is smaller than a half of an outer diameter of the seal body.
