The present disclosure relates to a drive mechanism which is suitable for an injection device, especially a pen type drug delivery device and to such a drug delivery device. The mechanism comprises a spring driven rotatable drive member, a rotatable driven member, a clutch rotationally coupling the driven member and the drive member in a coupled state and allowing relative clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation between the driven member and the drive member in a decoupled state, and a spring biasing the clutch into its coupled state and allowing relative axial movement between the drive member and the driven member into the decoupled state of the clutch against the bias of the spring. The clutch comprises a first ring of crown teeth on the drive member and a second ring of corresponding crown teeth on the driven member with each crown tooth having in the clockwise and the anti-clockwise direction different ramped tooth angles such that the teeth are allowed to override each other in the de-coupled state of the clutch with a different resistance in the clockwise and the anti-clockwise direction.

The present disclosure is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament and to an insert for such a device. The insert comprises a cup-shaped body with a distal end and a proximal end. The body has a sidewall and a tube which extends centrally through the cup-shaped body in a longitudinal direction, thereby defining an annular space between the sidewall and the tube. The annular space is open in the proximal direction for receiving a compression spring. The tube comprises a thread provided at an inner surface of the tube. Further, the tube, the sidewall and/or a second part comprise a clutch feature for rotationally constraining a component part to the insert.
DRIVE MECHANISM OF AN INJECTION DEVICE
A drive mechanism of an injection device for setting and dispensing of a dose of a medicament includes a body accommodating a cartridge filled with a medicament, an insert axially displaceable inside the body between a proximal operating position and a distal reset position, a piston rod to operably engage with a piston of the cartridge, a drive sleeve rotationally coupled with the piston rod and is rotationally lockable to the body for setting of a dose and rotationally releasable from the body for dispensing of a dose, respectively. The drive sleeve is axially displaceable relative to the body from a proximal operating position into a distal reset position through an axial connection of the insert and the drive sleeve, where the drive sleeve is rotationally released from the body when in the distal reset position.

The present invention is generally directed to an assembly for a drug delivery device comprising a first threaded member (50, 50′), a second threaded member (40, 60′) with a longitudinal axis and a thread (61), having at least two consecutive portions (62, 63, 64) with different leads. The first threaded member (50, 50′) and the second threaded member (40, 60′) are adapted and arranged to rotate with respect to one another about the longitudinal axis of the second threaded member (40, 60′) during dose setting operation of the assembly, the first threaded member (50, 50′) thereby being axially displaced along the second threaded member (40, 60′) from a start position to an end position with respect to the second threaded member (40, 60′) due to the mechanical cooperation of the first threaded member (50, 50′) with the thread (61). According to the invention, a fast portion (62, 64) of the thread (61), having a greater lead than a slow portion (63) of the thread (61), comprises a multi-start thread and the slow portion (63) comprises less starts than the fast portion (62, 64). The invention is further directed to a drug delivery device for setting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament comprising such an assembly.

Further, the device further comprises a cartridge holder removably attached to the housing and a reset element, which is axially constrained to the dose setting element, and at least one spring acting on the reset element, such that, if the cartridge holder is detached from the housing, the reset element is axially moved relative to the housing onto a position in which the dose setting element is rotationally constrained to the housing and the drive member is allowed to rotate relative to the housing.
