In some aspects, an intelligent medicine administering system includes a medicine injection device having a multi-channel encoder that detects fault conditions (e.g., such as open or short circuits) and a patient user's companion device including a software application operable to implement algorithms for detecting faults and communication loss and alerting the patient user for safety and fail-safes of the medicine injection device.

Such a reusable accessory may include a wireless communication interface, a detection circuitry, and a recommendation system. In one or more embodiments, an adapter may be configured to reversibly couple such a reusable accessory to a manual medication delivery device. Dosing events may be detected that are associated with dosing at the manual medication delivery device. Dose recommendations may be provided responsive to analyte measurements and/or dosing events.

A smart vial adapter is capable of measuring the dose of a drug that is withdrawn from a vial, measuring the time of a dose capture event, monitoring the vial temperature, measuring the amount of motion or perturbation the vial is subjected to, capturing various other parameters that can provide additional insights associated with the drug or the amount of the dose being drawn from the vial, and communicating the recorded information to a companion application on a computer, smartphone or other device. Related methods are also disclosed and claimed.

The invention relates to an injection device which includes a handle and a guard which together enclose a movable cartridge which can contain liquid material to be injected, and further enclose a movable injector that includes a needle, the needle being attached to a housing where the housing is attached to the cartridge, the device also including a delivery mechanism whereby the needle is moved from a retracted to an extended position, and independently the volume of the chamber may be adjusted to expel the contents thereof through the needle and into a subject in need thereof. The injection device may be communicatively connected to a control unit so as to provide a dermal injection system.

The system includes a wiper coupled to the first member, and a sensing band coupled to the second member for physically contacting the wiper as the second member rotates relative to the first member.
