20220362477 · 2022-11-17 ·

A drug injection device includes a housing with a cartridge having a predetermined drug volume, a dose setting mechanism for setting a drug dose, and a dose delivery mechanism. A dose setting service element rotates about a longitudinal axis during the drug dose setting. The dose setting mechanism has a last dose setting device to prevent setting of a drug dose greater than the drug volume remaining in the cartridge. The last dose setting device includes a pinion coaxial with the longitudinal axis that rotates about the longitudinal axis with the dose setting service element during drug dose setting, and a rack engaged with the pinion that moves parallel to the longitudinal axis when the pinion rotates. The pinion and the rack have mutual abutment elements that prevent further rotation of the pinion after the rack has travelled an axial length correlated to the predetermined drug volume.

Dose detection with piezoelectric sensing for a medication delivery device

The present disclosure relates to a medication delivery device having a dose detection system and an associated control system configured to determine an amount of medication delivered from the medication delivery device based on the sensing of relative rotation within the medication delivery device. The relative rotation may occur between a dose setting member and an actuator and/or housing of the medication delivery device. The rotation sensing may involve piezoelectric sensing, more specifically repeatedly deforming a piezoelectric sensor with a mechanical force. The dose detection system may be a modular or integral component of the medication delivery device.

A medicament delivery device is presented having a proximal disposable part arranged with a body and a delivery member cover telescopically arranged in relation to the body wherein the proximal disposable part is configured to receive a medicament container. A distal reusable power pack is detachably arranged with the proximal disposable part such that the delivery member cover has an extension position in which the delivery member cover is extended in the proximal direction to cover a medicament delivery member of the medicament container, and a retraction position in which the delivery member cover is retracted in the distal direction to expose said medicament delivery member. The distal reusable power pack can have a power unit, a rotational drive unit and a plunger unit, where the rotational drive unit is powered by the power unit and is configured to move the plunger unit upon being triggered.

Electronic System for a Drug Delivery Device

An electronic system for a drug delivery device including a dose setting and drive mechanism, a communication unit, an electronic control unit, and an electrical use detection. The dose setting and drive mechanism includes a first member and a second member that move relative to each other at least in the dose delivery operation and/or in the dose setting operation of the drug delivery device. The electronic system has a first state in which the communication unit is not activated and a second state in which the communication unit is activated. The electrical use detection unit is configured to generate a first signal indicative that the user has commenced or finished the relative movement between the first member and the second member. The electronic control unit is configured to switch the electronic system from the first state into the second state in response to the first signal.
