The syringe comprises a plunger and a chamber for storing an injection substance. The needle is configured to be coaxial and in communication with the syringe. Each set of springs may comprise one or more springs. The first set of springs is configured to push the needle and the second set of springs is configured to move the plunger. In one exemplary embodiment, the device is enclosed in a sealed case and the device may be made to resemble a watch.
Cap for Medical Injector
A medical injector including a cap remover or second cap is disclosed. The medical injector includes an injector housing defining a reservoir, a plunger rod, and a stopper engaged with a portion of the plunger rod and slidably disposed within the reservoir. The stopper being sized relative to an interior of the injector housing to provide sealing engagement with a sidewall of the injector housing. The medical injector further includes a needle having a sharpened first end and a second end in communication with the reservoir, a first cap covering the sharpened first end of the needle, and a second cap covering at least a part of the first cap. The second cap is engaged with the first cap such that removal of the second cap simultaneously removes the first cap from the first end of the needle.
APPARATUS FOR MOUNTING A PEN NEEDLE ASSEMBLY
A storage device (30) for storing a pen needle assembly (10) includes a housing (30) having first wells (44) with a dimension for receiving the pen needle assembly and second wells (46) for receiving an inner shield (24) of the pen needle assembly. The second wells (46) have a diameter less than a diameter of the first wells (44). An ejector (40) in the housing (34) can be actuated to eject the used needle hub (16) and outer covers (22) from the first well (44) and the inner shield (24) from the second well (46) for disposal. A method of coupling a pen needle delivery device to a needle hub positions a needle hub assembly (18) in the first well (44) and inserts the coupling end of the delivery device (10) into the first well (44) and is coupled to the needle hub. The needle hub is pulled from the outer cover (22). The inner shield (24) is inserted into the second well (46) to remove the inner shield from the needle hub.
Hard-Packaged Safety Needle Device
A hard-packaged safety needle device comprises a needle hub comprising a distal portion and a proximal portion, a needle cannula extending from the distal portion of the needle hub, and a hard needle enclosure comprising a needle cover, an adapter and a cap. The needle cover is configured to house the needle cannula, and the adapter has a tapered aperture configured to create an interference fit and a sterility barrier with the tapered outer surface of the needle cover. The caps includes a distal opening defining a first cavity, the cap being configured to interdigitate with the adapter by the first cavity of the cap receiving a proximal portion of the adapter.
Needle-based device with a safety mechanism implemented therein
A method includes protecting an entire length of a needle of a needle-based device protruding from a needle mount coupled to a body thereof based on providing a needle shield configured to completely encompass the entire protruding length of the needle in a first state of disuse of the needle-based device, and retracting the needle shield in a first direction toward the body to cause the needle to emerge out of the needle shield to prepare the needle-based device for a second state of use. The method also includes transitioning the needle-based device back to the first state of disuse in accordance with a force applied in a second direction, securedly maintaining the needle shield in the first state of disuse, and locking the needle shield with a lock button formed on the needle shield or external thereto in the first state of disuse of the needle-based device.
Medicament Delivery Device
The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device, comprising an outer body, a receptacle for a medicament, a needle for the administration of the medicament, an injection mechanism with an actuating mechanism for injecting the medicament into the patients body, and a needle guard for the needle. The medicament delivery device further comprising a detecting element for the detection of the orientation of the medicament delivery device, and a locking mechanism releasing the actuating mechanism, if the detecting element is in the at least first position, and locking the actuating mechanism, if the detecting element is in the at least second position, wherein the locking mechanism is controlled and/or actuated by the detecting element.
Injector for preventing accidental needle sticks
The present invention relates to an injector for preventing accidental needle sticks comprising:—a cylinder extending along a longitudinal axis, an inner wall and an outer wall, the cylinder having an outlet at an outlet end opposite an actuating end and a finger grip on the outer wall, which finger grip is positioned between the outlet end and the actuating end,—a piston having a piston body and a deformable sealing element, which deformable sealing element abuts the inner wall of the cylinder at an abutting interface and seals an annular gap between the piston body and the inner wall of the cylinder when the piston is inserted in the cylinder,—a needle guard for mounting on the outside of the cylinder from the outlet end or the actuating end, which needle guard comprises a barrel with a mounting end opposite an operating end, the barrel having a slot for receiving the finger grip of the cylinder when the needle guard is mounted on the cylinder, which slot extends from the mounting end towards the operating end, wherein when the needle guard is mounted on the cylinder from the actuating end in a protective position, the barrel extends along the longitudinal axis and projects beyond the outlet end of the cylinder so that when a hypodermic needle is attached at the outlet end, the barrel protects a user from accidental needle sticks.
Pen needle removal device for a drug delivery device
A removal device (121, 221) for removing and disposing of a pen needle (113, 213) connectable to a drug delivery device (111, 211) includes a body (123, 223) having a cavity (141, 241) for receiving the pen needle of the drug delivery device such that a patient end (116, 216) of a needle (115, 215) of the pen needle is covered by the body. An ejector (151, 251) is movably connected to the body (123, 223) for engaging the received pen needle (113, 213) and selectively ejecting the engaged pen needle from the body. The pen needle (113, 213) is securely retained within the removal device (121, 221) without exposing the needle (115, 215) of the pen needle until the pen needle (113, 213) can be properly disposed of, such as in a sharps container, thereby substantially preventing an accidental needle stick.
