NEEDLE AND NEEDLE SHIELD ASSEMBLY
According to the invention there is provided a needle assembly (1) for mounting on an injection device. The needle assembly comprises; a main body (10) configured to be removably attached to the injection device in use and a needle (90) is secured in the main body (10) having a forward portion which projects forwardly from the main body. A shield (60) is pivotally connected with the body portion by a hinge portion (80). The shield (80) is rotatably movable between: a first position, in which the forward portion of the needle (90) is exposed for use, and a second position, in which the shield (60) is positioned over the forward portion of the needle (90) such that the forward portion of the needle is substantially enclosed within the shield. The shield (60) comprises a pair of spaced apart side walls (64, 66). The base of the side walls comprise a first cooperating feature (72, 74) for engaging a second cooperating feature (22, 24) of the main body (10). The cooperating features are configured to engage to hold the shield in its second position independently of the hinge.
INJECTION-NEEDLE COVER
A injection-needle cover includes an injection needle enclosure portion, which has paired base-side wall portions, a cylinder portion, paired tip-end-side wall portions, an injection needle contact portion, a hook portion, and a needle tip end fixing portion. The injection needle contact portion is disposed at a position in a base-side axial space, which is a boundary between the base-side axial space and an intra-cylinder space. The injection needle contact portion has a force receiving portion and a connecting portion. The force receiving portion receives a force from the injection needle when the force receiving portion comes in contact with the injection needle. The force receiving portion has an easy sliding portion, which is disposed in an area adjacent to an injection needle, and slides more easily along the injection needle than a case where an edge slides along the injection needle.
Systems and methods for performing an injection
Devices, systems, and methods for performing injections with lowered likelihood of infection include catheters and other injection means with protective coverings. The protective covering can protect the catheter or other injection means before, during, or before and during insertion of the catheter into an insertion site. The protective covering includes two or more parts of interlocking protrusions and channels that allow for sliding motion of the parts relative each other but that resist separation of the parts in the direction perpendicular to the long axis of the two or more parts.
SEGMENTED SAFETY COVER FOR NEEDLE DELIVERY
A segmented safety cover may include a proximal segment combined with a needle hub; a needle cannula that extends from the proximal needle hub to a distal sharpened end; a distal end cap with a hollow bore through which the needle cannula passes; a centrally mounted toggle locking mechanism, separating the proximal needle hub from the distal end cap; the toggle locking mechanism is torsion spring assisted; a proximal cover segment is connected to the hub via a proximal hinge and a distal cover segment is connected to the end cap via a distal hinge; said proximal cover segment and said distal cover segment of said toggle locking mechanism being configured with abutting faces when the segmented safety cover is in a safety mode; and wherein the proximal hinge, abutting faces and distal hinge are in line in the safe mode.
Device for safe withdrawal and administration of liquids by syringe
The present invention provides a deflectable guide whose use results in protection of the hand of medical personnel holding a medical container during the activity of moving a hypodermic needle toward and pressing it through a septum of the medical container. The present invention further is adapted for use of the same syringe and deflector guide protected needle for injection or withdrawal of medical liquids from a septum end of medical catheter or intravenous tubing without removal of the deflectable guide.
Syringe and swab system
The current invention is a syringe and swab system for a syringe having a plunger, a barrel, a needle hub, a needle, a needle safety cover, and a swab attached to the distal end of the needle safety cover for placing over an injection site to apply pressure and a vial for holding fluid that may be utilized with the swab.
Blood collection apparatus
A blood collection apparatus is provided with a blood collection assembly including a casing tube including a forward nose, a plurality of connectors and a rear flange having a flexible projection, a plunger slidably disposed in the casing tube and including a forward plug and an elongated arm having a plurality of cavities, a blood collection tubes, an adapter assemblies each including a tube body, a first tube extending out of one end and insert into a related connectors of the casing tube, a second tube extending out of the end to insert into one of the blood collection tubes, and a butterfly needle assembly mounted to the nose of the casing tube. A pulling of the plunger moves the plug rearward and pivots the projection to engage in one cavity of the elongated arm and an orifice of the each related connectors is not blocked by the plug so as to flow blood from the tube casing to one of the blood collection tube via one connector and one adapter assembly.
Needle guard with dual hinge functionality
A needle guard for protecting a human or animal from accidental contact with a needle connected to said needle guard is disclosed. The needle guard comprises a mounting base for the needle, a hinge structure connecting the mounting base to a needle shield, and a needle shield hinge adjacent to the hinge structure and needle shield. The hinge structure is adapted to pivot the needle shield relative to the mounting base from an open position in which the needle shield is separated from the needle, to a closed position in which the needle shield encloses the needle. The needle shield hinge is adapted to pivot the needle shield relative to the hinge structure. A method of manufacturing the needle guard is also disclosed.
Safety Device for Preventing Needle Stick Injury with a Needle of a Medical Injection Device
A safety device for preventing needle stick injury comprises a ring configured to be attached to the distal tip of a medical injection device, a first hinge portion, and a protective shield. The protective shield comprises a second hinge portion pivotally coupled to the first hinge portion and is configured to adopt successively a storage position covering the needle tip, a retracted position uncovering the needle tip and a safety position covering the needle tip. In the safety position, the protective shield is locked on the ring by engagement of a locking member with a lug on the ring. The locking member is configured to engage the lug when the protective shield transitions from the retracted position to the safety position, passing from one side of the lug to the other, and remaining engaged with the lug for maintaining the protective shield in the safety position.
Passive Safety Huber Needle
A safety needle system includes a safety mechanism for a needle assembly, such as a Huber needle. A main body has a channel having a proximal end to encompass tubing and a distal end for positioning proximate a needle. The main body further has a first hinge mechanism and a first latching mechanism. A movable cover has needle receptacle, a second hinge mechanism connected with the first hinge mechanism of the main body, and a biasing member for pivoting movable cover about the first and second hinge mechanisms relative to the main body. The movable cover has a second latching mechanism to latch with the first latching mechanism in a closed position, in which the safety mechanism can be undocked from the needle and slid away from the needle along the tubing. The movable cover has a release mechanism to allow pivoting of the movable cover about the hinge mechanisms such that the needle receptacle of the movable cover at least partially receives the needle of the needle assembly in an open, locked position.
