Injection Device

An injection device comprising a housing and a cap at a distal end of the housing, the cap comprising: an outer member; an intermediate member disposed within the outer member, at least one of the intermediate member or outer member being rotatable relative to the other of the intermediate member or outer member; and, an inner member disposed within the intermediate member, and coupled to at least one of the outer member and the intermediate member, the inner member being configured to engage a needle shield in the housing. The injection device further comprises a lifting mechanism to reduce a force required to remove the cap from the housing, the lifting mechanism comprising at least one axially-inclined portion in engagement with at least one lifting portion such that rotational movement of the outer member or intermediate member is converted into an axial movement of the inner member from the housing.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO IMPROVE INSTRUMENT GUIDANCE WITHIN AN INTRAVENOUS CATHETER ASSEMBLY

A catheter assembly and/or an introducer may include one or more features configured to guide a probe and/or a catheter distally through a septum. The catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter and the septum. The catheter adapter may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. In some embodiments, the septum may be disposed within the lumen. The septum may include a proximal surface that is tapered inwardly in a distal direction such that the proximal surface of the septum is configured to guide the probe and/or the catheter distally through the septum. The catheter assembly may be configured to receive an introducer, which may include an introducer element. A proximal end of the introducer element may include another proximal surface that is tapered inwardly in the distal direction such that the other proximal surface is configured to guide the probe or the catheter distally through the septum.

DRUG ADMINISTRATION DEVICES THAT COMMUNICATE WITH SURGICAL HUBS

In general, drug administration devices that communicate with surgical hubs and methods of using drug administration devices that communicate with surgical hubs are provided.

PATIENT MONITORING USING DRUG ADMINISTRATION DEVICES

In general, systems and methods for patient monitoring using drug administration devices are provided.

AGGREGATING AND ANALYZING DRUG ADMINISTRATION DATA

In general, systems and methods for aggregating and analyzing drug administration data are provided.

Autoinjector with stall and end point detection

An autoinjector drug delivery device configured with a stall and endpoint detection algorithm is described that allows for variations in the fill of the drug, barrel, plunger, and other components. The stall or end point detection causes the autoinjector to stop an extrusion process.

Microneedle injection and infusion apparatus and method of using same

A microneedle injection and infusion apparatus, and a method of using same. The apparatus can include a housing, a microneedle array holder for holding a microneedle array, and a shuttle that holds a cartridge (e.g., that contains an active agent). The microneedle array holder can be movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The shuttle can be movable between a first position in which the cartridge is not in fluid communication with a fluid path and a second position in which the cartridge is in fluid communication with the fluid path. The apparatus can further include an actuator movable between a first position and a second position. The method can include moving the actuator to its second position to allow the shuttle to move toward its second position, wherein movement of the shuttle toward its second position allows the microneedle array holder to move to its extended position.

The present invention relates to a syringe with an improved needle retraction mechanism, comprising: (a) a cylindrical barrel, (b) a needle holder, (c) a hollow plunger, (d) a rod, (e) an extractor element, and (f) a recovery tension or compression spring, the extractor element being movably displaceable from an advanced position to a retracted position, said extractor element having a male protrusion to engage the internal cavity of the needle holder to join the extractor element to the needle holder, and hooking means defining a connection between the plunger and the extractor element, and wherein the axial hole of the plunger is defined by a plurality of bendable flanges which are configured to slide over the needle holder, said bendable flanges thereby bending outwardly and expanding the axial hole of the plunger, and whereby the extractor element is disconnected from said plunger and is retracted towards its retracted position. The present invention also relates to a syringe kit wherein the syringe is provided with an improved needle retraction mechanism as described herein.

SYRINGES AND INJECTORS WITH CAPACITIVE SENSING AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME

An injecting device includes a reservoir for containing a medicament, a needle in communication with the reservoir and configured to deliver the medicament to a patient’s body, at least two electrodes spaced apart from one another and disposed on opposing sides of the needle, and a capacitance-to-digital converter circuit configured to generate a signal and measure capacitance between the at least two electrodes.
