An autoinjection device (10′) for expelling a dose of drug is described. A housing (300) movably holds a power unit (400, 500, 550, 700) configured for driving the piston of a held container (100), the power unit comprising: a) a plunger (500) comprising a retaining geometry (515), b) a drive spring (550) arranged in a tensed state wherein a first end portion of the drive spring (550) provides a distally directed force on the plunger (500), and c) a power base (400) operably coupled to the drive spring (550) and the plunger (500), the power base (400) grounding a second end portion of the drive spring (550), wherein, in a pre-firing state of the autoinjector, a retaining element (410, 415) of the power base (400) releasably engages the retaining geometry (515) of the plunger to retain the plunger against the force of the drive spring (550), wherein the autoinjection device (10′) further defines a user operable trigger element (700) cooperating with the retaining element (410, 415) to maintain retaining engagement with the retaining geometry (515) of the plunger until triggering, and further defines an electronic module (80′) comprising a sensor (850, 851) configured to sense the shift of position of the power base (400) as it moves upon triggering.

A catheter assembly including a catheter carried by a catheter adapter, a needle having a sharp distal tip and disposed in the catheter such that in a first needle position, the needle extending beyond the catheter, a septum actuator having openings, the septum actuator disposed in the catheter adapter and configured to pierce a septum, and a spring clip disposed in the septum actuator and engaging the openings of the septum actuator in the first needle position.

An autoinjector is described that includes an outer body, a first trigger, an output needle, and a first compartment. The first compartment is positioned within the outer body and includes (i) a main body, (ii) a first biasing member coupled to the first trigger, and (iii) a protrusion positioned at a distal end of the main body. The autoinjector further includes a second compartment positioned in the outer body and in fluid communication with the first compartment and the output needle. The autoinjector also includes a second biasing member coupled to a second trigger. The first biasing member is configured to, upon application of force to the first trigger, automatically move an ampule in a distal direction relative to the main body to force the ampule against the protrusion, so as to break the ampule and allow a medicament to flow from the ampule to the second compartment.

A safety device for a needle of a medical device, the safety device including a ring adapted to be fixed with regard to the needle, a shield rotatably fixed on the ring, and the shield being configured to at least rotate in a closing direction from a retracted position in which the shield does not cover the needle to a safety position in which the shield covers the needle. The trigger mechanism is configured to support the indicator in an initial state of the device and during delivery of the medicament and to couple with the plunger to activate the audible and/or tactile indicator at or near an end of delivery.
