Wireless electromagnetic navigational element

A medical system tracks the position of a portion of a medical instrument within a body of a patient. In some embodiments, the medical instrument includes a needle, a syringe, and a needle-position-tracking element positioned between the needle and the syringe and in fluid communication with both. The needle-position-tracking element includes an electromagnet structure that includes a core, a conductive coil wrapped around the core, and ancillary circuitry configured to pass a current through the conductive coil to thereby generate a magnetic field. A sensor device senses the magnetic field and generates corresponding sensor signals. A control circuit calculates the position of a portion of the medical instrument based on the sensor signals.

Pre-filled safety needle and syringe system

A needle and pre-filled syringe system that provides ultra-low dosage waste and automatic needlestick protection. A syringe assembly is pre-filled with an injection material. A needle head assembly attaches to the syringe assembly. A spacer is disposed between the needle head assembly and the syringe assembly. The spacer has a central opening. The needle head assembly supports a needle with a needle base. When assembled, the needle base passed into the central opening of the spacer. The needle head assembly also contains a safety slide that can selectively cover the needle. During an injection, pressure and/or contact with the plunger head causes the spacer to contact and move the safety slide. The safety slide moves to cover the needle during the injection procedure, therein rendering the needle safe before the injection process is even complete.

Improved apparatus for use with medication in fluid form, which is particularly beneficial for medications having a relatively high viscosity. The disclosed syringe adapter has an opening that is relatively large, as compared to a conventional needle, and thus affixing the disclosed syringe adapter to a syringe improves syringeability of higher-viscosity medications. Some embodiments feature a lateral extension that prevents inserting the syringe adapter too far into a medicine bottle, and some embodiments feature a component that assists in firmly grasping. When the disclosed syringe adapter is affixed to a pistol-grip or tab-handled syringe, the medication withdrawn into the pistol-grip syringe can be more easily administered from the syringe barrel. In some embodiments, the syringe adapter will be replaced with a needle prior to injecting the medication, while in some other embodiments, the needle is affixed to the in-place syringe adapter for the injection. In yet other embodiments, the needle is affixed to a needle holder that, in turn, is affixed to the in-place syringe adapter for the injection.

The present invention provides a curved needle design which deflects to an advantageous angle when inserted within the medial posterior soft tissue of the patient lower jaw. The deflected needle tip is more perpendicular to the vertical wall of the posterior ramus and promotes the needle tip contacting bone proximate to the inferior alveolar nerve prior to injection of anesthetic. The needle design also improves the tactile feedback to the dental practitioner as the needle penetrates tissue and contacts bone.

Hypodermic Safety Needle

The safety needle comprises a collar configured to interdigitate with a conventional needle hub, the collar having attachment points for a hinged cap, the hinged cap being in a two-piece configuration. In further embodiments, the safety needle device comprises a removable hard needle cover configured to cover needle cannula and a distal portion of a needle hub. The hard needle enclosure further comprises a cap configured to interdigitate with the needle cover and cover a proximal portion of the needle hub. The cap and at least a portion of the needle cover are covered by a removable sleeve which holds the cap and the needle cover together. Even further embodiments comprise a needle hub, a needle cover, an adapter and a cap, the adapter configured to attach to a conventional needle cap.

The adaptor includes a globally tubular body having a proximal region and a distal region, said proximal region being provided with an engagement element for mounting said adaptor on the drug delivery device. The distal region is provided on its inner wall with an internal thread intended to cooperate with said external thread so as to connect said connector to the adaptor, said internal thread defining an internal thread crest. Said internal thread crest is provided with at least one deformable radial end part configured so as to be radially deformed when said connector is screwed into the adaptor. Also disclosed is a drug delivery device including such an adaptor and a method for connecting the connector to the adaptor.
