Walk power mower with transmission providing both forward and reverse propulsion
A walk power mower having a cutting deck supported upon the ground by a front and rear wheel(s). The mower includes a traction drive system incorporating a bidirectional transmission adapted to propel the mower alternatively in both forward and reverse directions. In some embodiments, the mower may include a single bidirectional transmission (e.g., powering only rear wheel(s) or only front wheel(s) of the mower), while in other embodiments, two bidirectional transmissions may be provided to power both the front and the rear wheel(s). In other embodiments, the mower may include a bidirectional transmission powering the rear wheel(s), while the front wheel(s) may be attached to the deck via a caster assembly.

ROTARY SCISSORING MOWER
A disclosed example scissoring mower includes a cutting assembly driven by a gear system. The mower is moved by an operator or motor to cause rotation of wheels. The wheels are coupled to an axle that drives the gear system and thereby the cutting assembly. Accordingly, when the mower is pushed or driven forward, the gear system causes blades of the cutting assembly to move in opposite directions, creating a scissoring action that cuts grass and other vegetation.
CONTROL ASSEMBLY FOR A WALK-BEHIND MOWER
A control assembly for controlling the mode of all-wheel-drive walk-behind mower is provided. The control assembly includes a casing and a pair of levers extending from opposing lateral sides of the casing, wherein both of the levers are rotatable between a first operative position and a second operative position relative to the casing. Rotating both of the levers to the second operative position switches the control assembly to an all-wheel-drive mode in which a front transmission and a rear transmission are both in an engaged state resulting in the front and rear wheels of the lawn mower to be rotated by the transmissions. When both levers are in the second operative position, the levers are releasably attached to each other and can be maintained in the second operative position by the user continually grasping only one of the levers.
