Bone plates for engaging bone members are described herein. The bone plates can receive one or more screws to secure the bone plates to an underlying bone member. The one or more screws can be inserted into bone plate holes that can be considered locking or non-locking. The bone plates described herein can have particular combinations of locking and/or non-locking holes. The bone plates can include features that accommodate the underlying anatomy of different types of bone, such as the condylar region of a femur.

A rod group includes a plurality of first rods that has an arcuate first curve, the first rods having mutually different lengths; and a plurality of second rods that has an S-shaped second curve, the second rods having mutually different lengths. The first rods and the second rods have shapes for treatment of scoliosis by (i) guiding the postoperative apex of the thoracic kyphosis to be located at the thoracic vertebrae T6 to T8, and (ii) guiding a postoperative apex of the thoracic kyphosis to be located at a position different from a preoperative apex of the thoracic kyphosis and the second rod each have a shape extending along an anatomically normal spinal column arrangement.

MINIMALLY INVASIVE SPINAL FIXATION SYSTEM AND RELATED METHODS

This application describes surgical instruments and implants for building a posterior fixation construct across one or more segments of the spinal column. Extension guides are provided that attach to bone anchors implanted within the spine. The extension guides have a guide channel that align with a rod channel in the anchor to help direct the rod to the anchor. Instruments are provided to aid in insertion and positioning or the rod.

A percutaneous revision implant for percutaneously revising an existing implant located in the spine of a patient may include, for example, extending the existing implant construct to span additional portions of the spine of the patient. The percutaneous revision implant comprises a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion comprises a connector having two opposable walls joined at one end to define a cavity having a first longitudinal axis. The cavity is suitable to receive and engage a rod of the existing implant. The percutaneous revision implant of the invention permits a medical practitioner to extend an existing implant construct without significantly disrupting or removing the existing implant or its component parts. A method of using same is also provided.

An external adjustment device for non-invasively adjusting an adjustable implant, the external adjustment device including a controller in communication with an actuator associated with the implant and a sensor configured to receive information from or about the implant. The external adjustment device may include a power source and a display. The external adjustment device may include a magnetic element configured to generate a rotating magnetic field; and a driver configured to drive the magnetic element to generate the rotating magnetic field and configured to rotate a permanent magnet of an implant. Upon placing the external adjustment device in proximity to the implant, the magnetic element is configured to magnetically couple with the permanent magnet. The external adjustment device may be configured to non-invasively determine one or more of a magnetic coupling state and a stalled state of the magnetic element and the permanent magnet disposed within the implant.

A spinal correction implant comprises a body extending between a first end and a second end. The body has a curvature. A first longitudinal element is connected with the first end. A ratchet is disposed with the body. A second longitudinal element is connected to the ratchet and is incrementally movable relative to the body. Systems and methods are disclosed.
