11413071 · 2022-08-16 · ·

Disclosed are various embodiments for forming spinal rod members for use in pedicle screw systems for spinal fixation surgery and systems. A system can include a pedicle screw having a pedicle screw head and a pedicle screw shaft, the pedicle screw head comprising an aperture for receiving and retaining a spinal rod member relative to the pedicle screw. The spinal rod member can include an elongated tubular membrane having a flexible body and a spinal rod body formed of a compound, where the spinal rod body is formed by insertion of a liquid compound into the elongated tubular membrane and a hardening of the liquid compound or other similar process for conversion of the flexible rod to a rigid rod. The pedicle screw head can include a channel configured to receive and retain the spinal rod member.

Adjustable implant system

A spinal distraction system includes a distraction rod having a first end and a second end, the first end being configured for affixation to a subject's spine at a first location, the distraction rod having a second end containing a recess having a threaded portion disposed therein. The system further includes an adjustable portion configured for affixation relative to the subject's spine at a second location remote from the first location, the adjustable portion comprising a housing containing a magnetic assembly, the magnetic assembly affixed at one end thereof to a lead screw, the lead screw operatively coupled to the threaded portion. A locking pin may secure the lead screw to the magnetic assembly. An O-ring gland disposed on the end of the housing may form a dynamic seal with the distraction rod.

Active compression devices, methods of assembly and methods of use are disclosed. A bone fixation device may include a first member, a second member shaped to engage the first member, and at least one deformable member. A bone fusion device including a female member with a proximal and distal end, a male member with a proximal and distal end, and at least one elastic element positioned between the female member and the male member. A bone plating device including a first member, a second member shaped to engage the first member, and at least one deformable member positioned between the first member and the second member. Methods of assembling and using the bone fixation devices, bone fusion devices, and bone plating devices are also disclosed.

Flexible spinal fusion rod

A spinal rod assembly includes a flexible spinal fusion rod including link members that articulate with one another so that the rod is formable into a curved orientation. A locking mechanism is coupled to the link members and can lock the link members so that the rod is maintained in the curved orientation.

Technique For Determining A Trajectory Defined By An Elongated Member Placed In Bone
20230389963 · 2023-12-07 · ·

A computer-implemented technique of determining a trajectory defined by a guide wire or other elongated member is presented. A method implementation of the technique in one variant comprises obtaining image data representative of a guide wire placed in a bone, processing the image data to determine an extension of the guide wire, and selecting a portion of the guide wire extension. The method further comprises determining, from the selected portion of the guide wire extension, trajectory data indicative of a guide wire-defined trajectory.

SCOLIOSIS CORRECTION SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND INSTRUMENTS

Devices, systems and methods for use in spinal surgeries. The system may include a fastener system comprising a fastener, a staple, and a locking cap. A cord may extend along the spine and through at least one fastener system. An instrument may be provided for tensioning the cord. The system may, for example, apply fixation on the convexity of the scoliotic vertebrae to limit growth on the convex side and allow unilateral growth on the concave side.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR SPOOLED VERTEBRAL ANCHORS

Apparatus and method for dynamic connection between adjacent bones. Various embodiments pertain to a bone anchor that includes a rotatable spool, the spool being configured to place tension on a flexible member, such as a tether, suture, cable, or other. Still further embodiments pertain to tools for interconnecting two bone anchors with a tether.

Rod-to-rod connectors having robust rod closure mechanisms and related methods

Various rod-to-rod connectors having robust rod closure mechanisms and related methods are disclosed herein, e.g., for enhancing the locking or clamping force on a rod. An exemplary connector can provide a robust closure mechanism for rod-to-rod connections in which the run-on length of a rod slot is minimal. The connector can include a moveable jaw that is partially disposed within a connector body and configured to pivot or translate relative to the connector body to form a fully or substantially closed rod slot around a first rod. The closed rod slot can be formed between a first rod-receiving recess defined in the connector body and a counterpart first rod-receiving recess defined in the moveable jaw. The locking or clamping force of the moveable jaw can be amplified by a mechanical advantage caused by the force exerted to lock a second rod in a second rod-receiving slot of the connector body.

Surgical expandable implant

A surgical expandable implant includes a bolt, a movable member, and a support body. The bolt has a bolt body and a fixing member. The movable member is configured to be slidably sleeved on the bolt body. The support body has a first end configured to extend through the fixing member and a second end configured to extend through the movable member. The movable member is configured to slide along the length of the bolt body so as to move the support body from an initial shape to a deformed shape.
