BONE STABILIZING IMPLANTS AND METHODS OF PLACEMENT ACROSS SI JOINTS
Threaded sacro-iliac joint stabilization (e.g., fusion, fixation) implants and methods of implantation and manufacture. Some implants include a threaded distal region, an optionally threaded central region, and an optionally threaded proximal region. The distal, central, and proximal regions have lengths such that when the implant is laterally implanted across a SI joint, the distal region can be positioned in a sacrum, the central region can be positioned across an SI-joint, and the proximal region can be positioned in an ilium.
Contourable plate
A medical device that may include a main body and a plurality of hooks. The main body includes a length extending along an axis between first and second ends. The main body may be deformable such that the axis forms an arch shape corresponding to a shape of a mandibular jaw or a maxillary jaw. The main body may include a plurality of sections each having first and second edges defining a first width and a plurality of openings disposed between the first and second edges and extending through a thickness of the main body. The main body may include a plurality of recessed portions defining a second width disposed between adjacent ones of the sections. Each of the hooks may extend from a corresponding one of the sections.
Modular tulip assembly
A modular tulip assembly has a rod receiving tulip and a saddle. The saddle is interlockingly held inside a distal portion of the tulip. The saddle has an external locking groove or recess. The tulip has a locking projection. The locking projection is positioned into the external locking groove or recess and holds the saddle in a pre-loaded unlocked state ready to be pushed onto a head of an implanted bone screw. Upon receiving the head of the bone screw, the saddle can be moved distally relative to the tulip to a locked state by moving the locking groove or recess distally past the locking projection to where the proximal end of the saddle is past abutting the locking projection.
Fixation device and method of using the same
A fixation device includes a head, a tapered body coupled to the head and extending along a central longitudinal axis, and a flexible tail extending distally from the tapered body and defining a central bore therethrough. The flexible tail is movable from an initial configuration aligned with the central longitudinal axis to a deflected configuration that extends away from the central longitudinal axis when a force is applied to the flexible tail.
Bipolar bone anchor with connection for electrostimulation
An electrical stimulation anchor is configured to be electrically coupled to a power source, such as a transducer, that is external to the electrical stimulation anchor. The electrical stimulation anchor can include a bone anchor that is configured to be secured to a bone. The bone anchor can define a first electrode, a second electrode, and an isolating portion between the first electrode and the second electrode. The electrical stimulation anchor can further include a connection unit attached to the bone anchor. The connection unit can define a first contact member that electrically connects to the first electrode, and a second contact member electrically isolated from the first contact member. The second contact member can be electrically connected to the second electrode. The first and second contact members are configured to draw electrical current from the transducer so as to establish a voltage differential between the first and second electrodes.
Systems and methods for intramedullary nail implantation
Intramedullary nails, aiming guide assemblies, and methods. The aiming guide assembly can include an aiming guide having an elongate proximal handle portion. A generally arcuate distal implant alignment tip connector portion is connected to the proximal handle portion and has a distal implant alignment tip extending along a tip axis parallel to a longitudinal axis of the proximal handle portion. A recon module may be releasably attached to a proximal end of the proximal handle portion. An oblique module may be releasably attached to the distal implant alignment tip portion.
VARIABLE PITCH TAPERED COMPRESSING SCREW FOR DYNAMIC COMPRESSION
A bone screw is provided with a resilient component that enables a surgeon to measure the amount of compression effected by the bone screw during installation and dynamically maintain that compression across the provided bone screw during fracture healing. The provided bone screw includes a leading component, a trailing component, and a resilient component that may be compressed between the leading and trailing components and which is arranged such that the bone screw's axial rigidity is maintained. The leading and trailing components may be engaged together or independently by a driving instrument. Advancing or receding only the leading component or only the trailing component alters a compression force effected by the bone screw between two bone fragments, enabling a surgeon to set a desired compression force. A measurement tool is also provided that may be used to measure an amount of compression force effected by an installed bone screw.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR BONE HARVESTING
In some embodiments, a bone implant for percutaneous use is provided. The bone implant comprises a head, a body adjacent to the head and a tip opposite the head. At least the head, body or tip is configured to contact bone. An expandable member contacts at least one of the head, tip or body and is movable from an unexpanded configuration to an expanded configuration when deployed at a bone implant site. In some embodiments, a system for percutaneous bone harvesting is provided.
Active bone plate
Disclosed herein are bone plates, bone plate systems, and methods of use thereof that can include a bone plate that includes a plate frame and first and second anvils. The plate frame can have a first surface and define a first opening and a second opening. Each of the first and second anvils can include first and second plates, and a body located in between the first and second plates. The first plate can have a first surface arranged to rest against the first surface of the plate frame when the bone plate is implanted. The second plate can be sized to pass into each of the first and second openings. The body can define a through hole sized to receive a fastener. When the bone plate is implanted, the plate frame can be moveable relative to the first and second anvils.
Modular bone screw for surgical fixation to bone
The invention discloses a modular surgical bone screw assembly having a threaded base portion and a screw head adapted to attach a variety of structures to bone. The features of the screw include a modular design for the assembly that separates the function of anchorage to the recipient bone to one of the modules of the device (threaded portion) from the other function of attaching another element (such as bone block, membrane, orthodontic wires, elastics etc) to a second module (the screw head). The design also allows the head to be exchanged after the implant has been placed.
