Systems and methods for correcting spinal deformities
The present invention relates generally to medical devices and methods generally aimed at spinal surgery. In particular, the disclosed system and associated methods relate to performing spinal fixation with the use of a deformity system.
LOW PROFILE SPINAL TETHERING DEVICES
Methods and devices for treating spinal deformities are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a low-profile spinal anchoring device is provided for receiving a spinal fixation element, such as a tether, therethrough. The device generally includes a staple body that is adapted to seat a spinal fixation element, a fastening element for fixing the staple body to bone, and a locking assembly for coupling a spinal fixation element to the staple body. In one embodiment, the locking assembly includes a washer that is adapted to couple to the staple body such that the spinal fixation is disposed therebetween, and a locking nut that is adapted to engage the staple body to mate the washer to the staple body.
Bone screw threaded enlarger
A bone fastener system can comprise a fastener and a first sizing component. The fastener can comprise a shaft that provides an anchoring footprint. The first sizing component can be configured to be connected to the shaft and can include a first anchoring feature, or circumferential bone engaging feature, to increase a size of the anchoring footprint. The first anchoring feature can comprise a sleeve that radially expands a diameter of the threaded shaft. The first anchoring feature can comprise axially extending teeth. The system can further comprise a second sizing component including a second anchoring feature to increase the size of the anchoring footprint, the second anchoring feature being different from the first anchoring feature. The second anchoring feature can expand the diameter of the threaded shaft a greater amount than the first anchoring feature. The second anchoring feature can have a length greater than the first anchoring feature.
SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A spinal construct includes a coupling member including a first mating surface engageable with an existing fastener implant. The existing fastener implant defines a cavity configured for disposal of an existing spinal rod implant. A connector is engageable with the existing fastener implant and has a rod extending therefrom. A locking member is engageable with a second mating surface of the coupling member. Systems, surgical instruments, implants and methods are disclosed.
PEDICLE SCREW STABILIZATION SYSTEMS AND INSTRUMENTS
Orthopedic fixation devices, assemblies, instruments, and methods relating to the same. The orthopedic fixation device may include a tulip head with one or more internal components configured to secure a bone fastener, such as a saddle, retaining clip, and friction ring. A spinal rod may be secured in the tulip head, for example, with a locking cap, thereby securing the bone fastener. One or more instruments, such as screwdrivers and correction instruments may be used for reduction, derotation, compression and/or distraction.
FRACTURE PLATING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A fracture plating system may be configured to stabilize a first fracture of a bone of a patient, the bone may include an interior surface facing toward an interior body cavity of the patient, and an exterior surface facing away from the interior body cavity. The fracture plating system may include a plate having one or more slots and configured to span the first fracture, a first fastener configured to be received in one of the one or more slots and secure the plate to the interior surface, a second fastener configured to be received in one of the one or more slots and secure the plate to the interior surface, and a first tether configured to apply a force directly to the first and second fasteners to guide the plate, the first and second fasteners through the interior body cavity to the interior surface of the bone.
Fixation assemblies for medical implants
Systems, devices and methods are provided for implanting medical devices into patients. The systems, devices and methods are particularly useful for orthopedic implants, such as spinal implants that facilitate fusion of bone segments. A fixation assembly for an implant comprises a screw having a head and a shaft, and a washer having at least one outer surface with one or more frictional elements for engaging a surface of the implant. The shaft includes one or more projections that cooperate with the washer to prevent the washer from sliding back down the screw, while allowing for easy application of the washer to ensure optimal placement and desired contact with the screw head. The washer and/or the screw head may also include interlocking cams that create a wedge effect that inhibits the screw from backing out or loosening from a hole in bone or other tissue.
Bone anchor housing limiter
A bone anchor system can comprise a fastener, a rod housing and a first directional component configured for connection to the fastener. The fastener can comprise a shaft having a shaft diameter, an anchoring projection on the shaft, and a head at an end of the shaft. The rod housing can be connected to the head of the fastener. The first directional component can comprise a first body portion having a first outer diameter larger than the shaft diameter, a first bore extending through the first body portion, the first bore sized to receive the shaft diameter, and a first locking component extending from the first body portion configured to engage the rod housing to limit movement of the housing.
