SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD
An interbody implant includes an implant body extending between an anterior surface and a posterior surface. The implant body includes a first vertebral engaging surface and a second vertebral engaging surface. At least one of the vertebral engaging surfaces defines a cavity configured for disposal of bone growth detectable via medical imaging. Systems, spinal constructs, surgical instruments and methods are disclosed.
Implant, implantation device, implantation method
An implant suitable for being anchored with the aid of mechanical vibration in an opening provided in bone tissue. The implant is compressible in the direction of a compression axis under local enlargement of a distance between a peripheral implant surface and the compression axis. The implant includes a coupling-in face which serves for coupling a compressing force and the mechanical vibrations into the implant, which coupling-in face is not parallel to the compression axis. The implant also includes a thermoplastic material which, in areas of the local distance enlargement, forms at least a part of the peripheral surface of the implant.
Methods of designing high x-ray lucency lattice structures
The biocompatible lattice structures disclosed herein with an increased or optimized lucency are prepared according to multiple methods of design disclosed herein. The methods allow for the design of a metallic material with sufficient strength for use in an implant and that remains radiolucent for x-ray imaging.
BONE IMPLANTS FOR CORRECTING BONE DEFECTS
A mosaic implant (2010) comprises a mesh support frame comprising a plurality of polygonal support rings (2040 A, B, C) connected by a plurality of struts (2014), and a plurality of mosaic plates (2012). The support rings are positioned within the mosaic plates; the struts extend between adjacent plates. An implant (1510) for filling a bore hole comprises a plate (1512) and a support frame (1520) having a central portion (1522) located at least partially within the plate, a polygonal outer rim (1524) having a plurality of fastening points for attaching the implant to bone surrounding a bore hole, and a plurality of arms (1530) extending between the central portion and the outer rim. The plurality of arms extend inwardly and downwardly away from the outer rim such that the central portion is located below the plane of the outer rim and the upper surface of the plate is flush with or slightly above the upper surface of the outer rim.
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURED TITANIUM BONE DEVICE
Disclosed herein is an orthopedic implant device comprising a porous structure, approximating the shape of a bone, and having modulus of elasticity similar to that of said bone. In one embodiment, further disclosed herein is a method of treating injuries or diseases affecting bones or muscles comprising providing an orthopedic implant device, wherein the orthopedic implant device comprising a porous structure, approximating the shape of a bone, and having a modulus of elasticity similar to that of bone, and using the orthopedic implant device to treat injuries and diseases affecting bones and muscles in a mammal. In another embodiment, disclosed herein is a method of manufacturing an orthopedic implant device using an additive manufacturing (AM) method.
Bone grafting and compaction
A tool for delivery and/or compaction of bone graft material includes a cannula with an inner lumen extending along a longitudinal axis from a hopper end of the cannula to a delivery tip of the cannula. A hopper with an internal volume for storing bone graft material is connected to the hopper end of the cannula with the internal volume of the hopper in communication with the inner lumen of the cannula for delivery of bone graft material from the hopper to the delivery tip of the cannula. An output shaft within the inner lumen extends along the longitudinal axis. The output shaft includes a helical screw thread extending radially outward from the output shaft toward an inner surface of the cannula. An actuator is connected to the hopper and to the output shaft to drive the output shaft rotationally relative to the hopper and to the cannula.
Devices and method for treatment of spondylotic disease
A distractor includes a first plate and a second plate. The first plate includes an outer surface having a surface irregularity provided thereon and an inner surface having a protrusion provided thereon. The second plate includes an outer surface having a surface irregularity provided thereon and an inner surface having a recess provided thereon. The protrusion engages with the recess in a ball and socket configuration that permits relative movement of the first and second plates.
Multi-walled placeholder
A placeholder for vertebrae or vertebral discs includes a tubular body, which along its jacket surface has a plurality of breakthroughs or openings for over-growth with adjacent tissue. The placeholder includes at least a second tubular body provided with a plurality of breakthroughs and openings at least partially inside the first tubular body. The first and second tubular bodies can have different cross-sectional shapes, can be are arranged inside one another by press fit or force fit or can be connected to each other via connecting pins and arranged side by side to one another in the first body.
Spinal implants and implantation system
Disclosed are surgical implants for providing therapy to a treatment site, tool sets and methods for percutaneously accessing and deploying the implants within the spines. The treatment site may be a vertebral body, disc, and/or motion segments in the lumbar and sacral regions of the spine.
Bone graft and method of making and using same
A spinal bone graft includes one or more cortical bone portions forming a first unit. The first unit includes an engagement surface for contacting bone, and a mating surface. The mating surface forms at least one first undercut. The bone graft also includes one or more cortical bone portions forming a second unit. The second unit includes an engagement surface for contacting bone, and a mating surface. The mating surface forms either at least one second undercut, or at least one connector. In the former, at least one connector is received in each of the first and second undercuts to interconnect the first and second units. In the latter, the at least one connector of the second unit is received in the first undercut of the first unit to interconnect the first unit and second unit.
