20210121301 · 2021-04-29 ·

Embodiments herein are generally directed to expandable spinal implants, systems, apparatuses, and components thereof that can be used in spinal fusion and/or stabilization procedures, as well as methods of installation. The expandable spinal implants may be configured for lateral insertion.

Spinal Implant System

A prosthesis for spinal surgery includes a spacer adapted to be secured into the bone and attached to one of a plurality of configuration plates. The configuration plates are interchangeable and each one is configured to utilize a different combination of bone screws, anchors or both. The prosthesis may further include a retaining mechanism to prevent bone screws and/or anchors from backing out.

EXPANDABLE BONE GRAFTS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF

The present invention relates to compressed bone-based products and methods to make the same. The maintained compressed state of the product serves to enhance the product's inherent osteoconductivity.

POROUS SPINAL IMPLANT

A surgical implant and a surgical kit. The surgical implant has a body portion comprising a first hole formed in an exterior surface of the body portion, a second hole adjacent the first hole, and at least one through-hole within the body portion and extending entirely thought a depth of the body portion extending entirely thought a depth of the body portion. The implant has a central opening abutting the body portion and extending through the body portion. The first hole has a first sidewall and a first cavity in the body portion, the second hole has a second sidewall and a second cavity in the body portion, and the first cavity and the second cavity have an interconnected opening there between. The surgical kit includes the surgical implant and an intervertebral insertion device

Implantable medical devices

Implantable medical devices are provided. In one embodiment, a device includes a body having an external surface defining an outer profile of the device. The body includes a porous matrix including a series of interconnected macropores defined by a plurality of interconnected struts each including a hollow interior. A filler material substantially fills at least a portion of the series of interconnected macropores. The external surface of the body includes a plurality of openings communicating with the hollow interior of at least a portion of the plurality of interconnected struts. In a further aspect of this embodiment, the external surface includes exposed areas of the filler material and porous matrix in addition to the exposed openings. In another aspect, the porous matrix is formed from a bioresorbable ceramic and the filler material is a biologically stable polymeric material. Still, other aspects related to this and other embodiments are also disclosed.

A vertebral fixation plate system and a method for its use in a surgical procedure to fuse adjacent spinal vertebrae. A mounting member is attached to the vertebral fixation plate so that the fixation plate can move with respect to the mounting member through a range of available positions. The mounting member can be attached to a spinal interbody fusion device installed in place of a removed spinal disc, thus also loosely fastening the vertebral fixation plate to the fusion device. A fastener can tighten the vertebral fixation plate to the mounting member and establish a location of the vertebral fixation plate with respect to the vertebrae to be fused. Confronting surfaces of the mounting member and the vertebral fixation plate cooperate to keep the vertebral fixation plate in a desired location while it is fastened to the vertebrae being fused.
