Expandable fusion device and method of installation thereof
An expandable fusion device is capable of being installed inside an intervertebral disc space to maintain normal disc spacing and restore spinal stability, thereby facilitating an intervertebral fusion. The fusion device may include a body portion, a first endplate, and a second endplate, the first and second endplates capable of being moved in a direction away from the body portion into an expanded configuration or capable of being moved towards the body portion into an unexpanded configuration. The fusion device is capable of being deployed and installed in both configurations.
Bone fixation devices, systems, methods, and instruments
A bone disunion instrument system may include a first bone pin, a second bone pin, and a guide block. The guide block may include first and second bone pin holes to receive the first and second bone pins, and a window intermediate the first and second bone pin holes. The first bone pin may be anchored in a first bone portion and inserted through the first bone pin hole, and the second bone pin may be anchored in a second bone portion and inserted through the second bone pin hole to impart a compression or distraction force on a bone disunion between the first and second bone portions. The window formed through the guide block may provide access for an implant placed through the window to stabilize the bone disunion while the bone disunion is placed under a compression or distraction force.
ARTIFICIAL KNEE SYSTEM HAVING A GEAR ARRANGEMENT
A knee joint prosthesis moves between an extended and flexion positions. The prosthesis includes a femoral component configured to be mounted to a femur, the femoral component having a femoral gear including a plurality of posts arranged along a helical trajectory. The prosthesis also includes a tibial component configured to (i) be mounted either directly or indirectly to a tibia, and (ii) engage the femoral component. The tibial component has a tibial gear including a plurality of recesses that are configured to mesh with the posts of the femoral gear. The tibial gear has two intersecting portions including a horizontally-oriented curved portion and a vertical portion, wherein each portion includes at least one of the recesses. The plurality of posts follow a helical trajectory to cause movement of the tibial component in either a medial or lateral direction as the knee joint prosthesis is moved to the extended position.
Revision glenoid device method
A glenoid component in one embodiment includes a base component with a planar upper circular rim defining a first plane, a receptacle opening to the first plane, and a lower planar circular surface defining a second plane parallel to the first plane. An articulating component of the glenoid component includes an upper articulating surface, a lower cylindrical coupling portion configured to be inserted into the receptacle, and an overhang portion located above the lower cylindrical coupling portion and beneath the upper articulating surface. The overhang portion includes a planar lower surface extending outwardly from the lower cylindrical coupling portion and configured to abut the planar upper circular rim of the base component when the articulating component is coupled to the base component.
BONE FIXATION DEVICES, SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND INSTRUMENTS
An intervertebral implant may include a shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis, a minor diameter, and a helical thread disposed about the shaft along the longitudinal axis between the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft. The helical thread may include a major diameter and a concave undercut surface angled towards one of the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft. The intervertebral implant may be implanted within an intervertebral space between a superior vertebral body and an inferior vertebral body. A ratio of the major diameter to the minor diameter may be less than 1.50. The concave undercut surface may engage the superior vertebral body and the inferior vertebral body and may be shaped to resist at least one force transmitted between the superior vertebral body and the inferior vertebral body to stabilize the intervertebral space.
IMPLANT AND COVERING METHODS AND APPARATUS
In some aspects, a device comprising an implant configured for insertion into a portion of human anatomy, and at least one covering coupled to the implant is provided. According to some aspects, the implant comprises one or more protrusions configured to prevent leakage of material and/or to resist displacement of the implant. According to some aspects, the covering is configured to facilitate improved leakage and/or implant displacement prevention.
Intraoperative implant augmentation
Methods and systems of augmenting an implant intraoperatively and preparing a cone for revision surgical procedure are disclosed. A system includes a cutting device, a tracking and navigation system and a cutting system in operable communication with the cutting device and the tracking and navigation system. The cutting device includes a communication system, a cutting element, and a plurality of optical trackers. The tracking and navigation system is configured to detect a location of optical trackers. The control system is configured to cause the tracking and navigation system to detect the location of the cutting device, determine a revised shape for an implant cavity, cause the cutting device to cut the implant cavity to the revised shape, select a shape for a cone to be placed in the revised implant cavity, and machine the cone to the selected shape.
Curved expandable interbody devices and deployment tools
A curved expandable interbody device for placement between vertebrae having an upper structure, a lower structure, and a screw mechanism, wherein actuation of the screw mechanism moves the upper and lower structures between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. A deployment tool couples to the curved expandable interbody device for positioning the device between adjacent vertebrae and actuating the screw mechanism, wherein the deployment tool can lock to the curved expandable interbody device and pivot relative to the curved expandable interbody device.
Expandable fusion device and method of installation thereof
The present invention provides an expandable fusion device capable of being installed inside an intervertebral disc space to maintain normal disc spacing and restore spinal stability, thereby facilitating an intervertebral fusion. In one embodiment, the fusion device includes a body portion, a first endplate, and a second endplate, the first and second endplates capable of being moved in a direction away from the body portion into an expanded configuration or capable of being moved towards the body portion into an unexpanded configuration. The fusion device is capable of being deployed and installed in both configurations.
