Moreover, the artificial bone structure comprises a hollow cylindrical portion having an elongate shape, disposed inside of and concentrically with the solid cylindrical portion. The hollow cylindrical portion is configured to comprise an artificial bone marrow therein.

Bone fusion device, system and method

A bone fusion method, system and device for insertion between bones that are to be fused together in order to replace degenerated discs and/or bones, for example, the vertebrae of a spinal column. The bone fusion device comprises a frame and one or more extendable plates that are able to be angled, rotatable, adjustable, and have top profiles designed to correct and/or match the replaced discs/bones. The bone fusion device is able to be inserted between or replace the vertebrae by using a minimally invasive procedure wherein the dimensions and/or other characteristics of the bone fusion device are selectable based on the type of minimally invasive procedure.

SLEEVE AUGMENT DEVICE FOR AN ARTICULATED JOINT

An augment device for a joint endoprosthesis, the device including a sleeve surrounding a channel extending through the sleeve. The sleeve is formed of porous material for ingrowth of bony material, the sleeve comprising an inner face and an outer face. The sleeve further comprises a wall surrounding the channel, the wall being made of solid material and forming a sandwich structure with the porous material, wherein the wall forms a bulkhead between the inner face and the outer face. Thereby, the bulkhead wall will stop inflow of any cement across the sleeve from its inner to its outer face. The porous material on the outer face will be kept free from cement and its capability to promote bone ingrowth is reliably preserved. The augment devices are preferably provided as a set having different sizes and straight or stepped bottoms for improved versatility and maximum preservation of natural bone matter.

Vertebral body replacement

The present invention involves a system and methods for assembling and implanting a vertebral body implant. The vertebral body implant includes, but is not necessarily limited to, an expandable core body and endplates that can be attached at both ends. Endplates of various shapes, sizes and angles are attachable to the expandable core in a plurality of positions so that a suitable vertebral body implant can be implanted between vertebrae from an anterior, anterior-lateral, lateral, posterior or posterior-lateral approach.

CONNECTING SLEEVE FOR ANCHORING SHAFTS OF TWO OPPOSITELY ARRANGED PROSTHESES

The invention relates to a connecting sleeve for anchoring shafts of two oppositely arranged prostheses, preferably on an elongate bone such as a femur or humerus. The reinforcing sleeve comprises two receiving bushes for one prosthesis shaft each and comprises a separable coupling region arranged therebetween for connection in such a manner as to resist shear forces and rotation. According to the invention, each receiving bush has, on the side thereof facing the coupling region, one fork of a pair of forks that interact with each other, and a fitting block is arranged on a base of the fork, the lateral surfaces of which fitting block have a distance that corresponds to an inner width of the fork, and the lateral surfaces are designed to contact flanks of the fork in a planar manner, at least one fastening screw being arranged transversely through the fork. The fork connection is simpler to produce than the known wedge connection and yet is sufficiently robust. Unlike in the case of the wedge connection, an exact fit is not required; a clearance fit between the fork and the fitting block is sufficient in principle, excessive play being eliminated by means of the fastening screw.

Expandable vertebral prosthesis

The present invention relates to an expandable prosthetic implant device for engagement between vertebrae generally comprising an inner member, outer member, gear member and a locking assembly positioned coaxial with respect to each other such that the inner and outer members are moveable relative to each other along an axis. The gear member is axially fixed to the outer member and freely rotatable with respect to the outer member and the gear member threadedly engages a threaded portion of the inner member to translate inner member along the axis. The implant is configured to engage the vertebrae in a predetermined alignment and the gear member includes gear teeth exposed to the exterior and configured to be accessible by a tool member at a plurality of angular positions around the perimeter of the implant device.

Prosthetic spinal disk nucleus

This specification describes technologies relating to an intervertebral disc prosthesis used to strengthen and stabilize the spine. Implementations of the technology described herein comprise a surgical device that is implanted through a small surgical incision into a portion of a human intervertebral disc, various support tools used to insert such a surgical device, and a method by which the device is used to strengthen and stabilize the spine.

Method and implant device for grafting adjacent vertebral bodies

A methodology for grafting together adjacent bony structures is provided using an implant device having an endplate with an inner disc portion and outer ring portion spaced from the inner disc portion by a connecting wall disposed there between. An endplate interior surface includes a retaining structure for securing the endplate to one of the bony structures, and endplate an exterior surface has an integrally formed socket. A ball-joint rod has a longitudinally extending body and an end, and at least a portion of the ball-joint rod end is curvilinear in shape. The curvilinear ball-joint rod end is rotatably disposed in the endplate socket to fixedly interconnect the bony structures.

PROCESS OF BONE CREATION BETWEEN ADJACENT VERTEBRAE

A process of bone creation between adjacent vertebrae uses an intervertebral stabilizing screw, which includes a main body with an axial through hole, a distal thread and at least one fill hole. A hollow proximal secondary body of the screw includes an external thread a travel stop. The process includes inserting the main body until the distal thread is secured to an upper vertebrae of the adjacent vertebrae such that the at least one fill hole is in inside of the disk, inserting the proximal body until reaching to the limit stop such that the proximal body is threaded inside of a pedicle and secured to a lower vertebrae of the adjacent vertebrae, and injecting a bone remodeling composition into inside of the disk through the axial hole and the at least one fill hole.
