SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NON-BINDING ALLOGRAFT SUBTALAR JOINT IMPLANT
Provided is a system and method for providing a non-binding allograft subtalar joint implant for surgical implant into a person's foot proximate to the ankle. This system for repair includes at least one sterile non-binding allograft subtalar joint implant provided as a pre-formed allograft rod plug ARP having a diameter about equal to an average width of a canal between a person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP being resiliently compressible and flexible. When snuggly disposed between the person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP compresses during normal use of the person's foot and maintains the canal in an anatomically correct alignment and reduces a tendency for abnormal motion between the person's talus and calcaneus bones. An associated method of use is also provided.
Multilayered bone graft and method of making same
A synthetic bone graft is described which is adapted to be received within a bone defect and which is structurally load-bearing. The bone graft comprises an entirely synthetic graft body corresponding in shape and size to the bone defect. The graft body is composed of a plurality of superimposed multilayered structures, each of the multilayered structures having a biopolymer layer joined to a biomineral layer to define an interface therebetween. The biomineral layer has a stiffness that is greater than that of the biopolymer layer, and the biopolymer layer has a toughness that is less than that of the biomineral layer.
Labral reconstruction system and methods
A system for installing a labral graft includes placing anchors into a bone thereby immovably coupling the anchors to the bone, coupling a suture to at least one of the anchors, coupling sutures to a graft, using the sutures coupled to the graft to manipulate the graft into position and tightening the sutures, thereby coupling the graft to the bone. Additionally, the system also includes a graft installation funnel having a tapered funnel body and an annular space within the tapered funnel body that is capable of retaining a graft and easing installation of the graft. Further, the system for installing a labral graft includes a graft preparation device including a block with a longitudinal recess, the longitudinal recess having a cross section that mimics the natural shape of a tissue that is to be replaced by a graft, and suture slots.
Bone graft cage
A device for containing a graft material includes an outer member formed via an outer mesh sheet biased toward a coiled configuration in which the outer mesh sheet is coiled about a longitudinal axis thereof so that, when the outer member is positioned about separated portions of a target bone in an operative position, the outer member reverts to the coiled configuration and contracts about and engages the separated portions. The device also includes an inner member formed via an inner mesh sheet coiled about a longitudinal axis thereof. The inner member is movable between a first biased coiled configuration and a second coiled configuration. A diameter of the inner member in the first coiled configuration is larger than a diameter of the inner member in the second coiled configuration.
IMPLANTS FOR BONE AND CARTILAGE REPAIR
An implant for the repair of bone and cartilage that includes a cell conductive zone that contains biopolymeric fibers and an osteoconductive zone that contains biopolymeric fibers and calcium-containing silicate based glass. The biopolymeric fibers from one zone overlap with the fibers in the other zone forming a stable physical and mechanical integration of the two zones, thus conferring in vivo stability to the implant.
Calcium phosphate polymer composite and method
A bone-repair composite includes a core and a sheath. The core is a first primary unit including a combination of a first set of yarns coated with a calcium phosphate mineral layer. The first set of yarns being made from a first group of one or more polymers. The sheath is a second primary unit a combination of a second set of yarns or one or more polymer coatings. The second set of yarns being made from a second group of one or more polymers, wherein the composite is made by covering the core with the sheath, and the composite is compression molded to allow the sheath to bond to the core. The bone-repair composite has a bending modulus comparable to that of a mammalian bone, such that the ratio of the core to the sheath is provided to maximize the mechanical strength of the bone-repair composite to mimic the mammalian bone.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NON-BINDING ALLOGRAFT SUBTALAR JOINT IMPLANT
Provided is a system and method for providing a non-binding allograft subtalar joint implant for surgical implant into a person's foot proximate to the ankle. This system for repair includes at least one sterile non-binding allograft subtablar joint implant provided as a pre-formed allograft rod plug ARP having a diameter about equal to an average width of a canal between a person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP being resiliently compressible and flexible. When snuggly disposed between the person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP compresses during normal use of the person's foot and maintains the canal in an anatomically correct alignment and reduces a tendency for abnormal motion between the person's talus and calcaneus bones. Coiling implantable prostheses and methods for implanting
An implantable prosthesis that includes a biased coiling member and a conforming coiling member. The biased coiling member may be biased to curve from a substantially linear configuration to a nonlinear configuration. The conforming coiling member may be engaged with and curved by the biased coiling member from the substantially linear configuration to the nonlinear configuration. The biased coiling member may define a longitudinal axis when in the substantially linear configuration. The biased coiling member and the conforming coiling member may move relative to each other along the longitudinal axis. The prosthesis may be implanted in a surgical procedure that minimizes incision sizes and may be considered less invasive than typical implant procedures, especially spinal implant procedures.
