Sacropelvic fusion implant system for providing a foundation for spinopelvic fixation constructs in adult spinal deformity surgery

A method of surgically treating a patient suffering from severe pain and disability of the low back and buttock by stabilizing the patient's spinal column to their pelvis with an implant system including surgical tools and an implant designed to prevent movement between the sacrum and the ilium while being able to attach to a spinal fusion rod which connect to pedicle screws implanted in the bones of the spine of the patient in order to offer lasting relief of the patient's symptoms. The system is designed to address complications in adult spinal deformity by optimizing spinopelvic fixation vis--vis the unique biomechanics of the SI joint. The sacropelvic system is a surgical solution which provides an additively manufactured implant at the base of the spine employing an S2AI trajectory while utilizing assisting technologies including surgical navigation and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring.

Several embodiments of a system, several embodiments of an implant, and several methods are disclosed including a method for interbody fusion.

EXPANDABLE INTERBODY SPACER

Devices and methods for treating one or more damaged, diseased, or traumatized portions of the spine, including intervertebral discs, to reduce or eliminate associated back pain. In one or more embodiments, the present invention relates to an expandable interbody spacer. The expandable interbody spacer may comprise a first jointed arm comprising a plurality of links pivotally coupled end to end. The expandable interbody spacer further may comprise a second jointed arm comprising a plurality of links pivotally coupled end to end. The first jointed arm and the second jointed arm may be interconnected at a proximal end of the expandable interbody spacer. The first jointed arm and the second jointed arm may be interconnected at a distal end of the expandable interbody spacer.

A spinal fusion implant has a parallelepiped main body with a rotatably mounted retention plate secured to its distal end. The distal retention plate has a first position co-planar with the main body and a second, deployed position normal to the plane of the main body. The distal retention plate is in the first position when the main body is inserted between adjacent vertebral bodies and is in the second position after the main body is inserted between adjacent vertebral bodies. In further embodiments, a proximal retention plate is permanently deployed in normal relation to the main body or both the distal and proximal retention plates are rotatably mounted and both are deployed co-planar to the main body before insertion and normal to the main body after insertion.

BONE STRUCTURAL DEVICE

A bone structural device including a plurality of bone structural segments, wherein adjacent bone structural segments are pivotally connected to one another about a pivot axis, and the bone structural segments are expandable in height, which is in a direction generally parallel to the pivot axis.

BASEPLATE OF A MODULAR SHOULDER JOINT PROSTHESIS AND RELATED METHODS FOR IMPLANTING THE SAME

Shoulder joint implants are disclosed herein for use in shoulder reconstruction that are configured to facilitate the inclusion a central bone screw for augmented bone fixation. The implant can include a baseplate (or metaglene) configured to secure a glenosphere or other prosthetic component to the glenoid. To facilitate lateral or proximal insertion of a central bone screw through the implant, a throughbore defined along the central axis of the metaglene can be widened to accommodate the maximum diameter of the screw. To enable fixation of the glenosphere to the metaglene, a collet can be configured to engage the smaller diameter of a glenosphere coupling element and inserted into the central throughbore. The collet and the bone screw can be separate parts, thereby making insertion of the bone screw optional. Alternatively, the collet and bone screw can be integrated together to form a unitary construct.

Method and surgical instrument system with multiple lengths of broaches sharing a common geometry

An orthopaedic surgical instrument system includes a first broach including a first end configured to be separately secured to a handle and a tapered body having a plurality of cutting teeth defined therein, and a second broach including a first end configured to be separately secured to the handle in place of the first broach, a first tapered body extending distally from a second end positioned opposite the first end, and a second tapered body extending distally from the first tapered body. The tapered body of the first broach and the first tapered body of the second broach have a first outer geometry and the second tapered body has a second outer geometry different from the first outer geometry.
