A system for replacing at least a portion of a natural facet joint includes a fixation member implantable in a vertebra, an inferior facet articular surface and an inferior strut which may be formed separately from the inferior articular surface. The inferior strut has a first end securable to the fixation member and a second end which may comprise a sphere with a hemispherical surface. An attachment mechanism may include a capture feature shaped to receive the second end of the inferior strut, and the mechanism may provide an adjustable configuration, allowing polyaxial adjustment between the inferior articular surface and the second end. A locking member may be actuated to exert force on the second end to provide a locked configuration. The system may further include a superior facet joint implant with a superior articular surface shaped to articulate with the inferior articular surface.

A system for converting a first joint prosthesis to a second joint prosthesis in-situ includes a plurality of inserts having a bone interface side and a component facing side and a plurality of articulating components having a cavity configured to receive at least one of the plurality of inserts. The plurality of inserts may be unicompartmental, bicompartmental, or tricompartmental. The inserts may be made of metal and may have a bone contacting surface made of a porous metal. The plurality of articulating components may be unicompartmental, bicompartmental, or tricompartmental. The articulating components may be sized and shaped to cover one or more of the plurality of bone interface components and span a distance therebetween. The articulating components may be made of a polymer.

Expandable intervertebral implant

An expandable intervertebral implant is provided for insertion into an intervertebral space defined by adjacent vertebrae. The expandable intervertebral implant includes a pair of outer sleeve portions and an inner core disposed between the outer sleeve portions. Movement of the inner core relative to the outer sleeve portions causes the outers sleeve portions to deflect away from each other, thereby engaging the expandable intervertebral implant with the vertebrae and adjusting the height of the intervertebral space.

An end cap and a bone screw for use therewith are provided. One or more of the end caps can be used with a spinal implant used to replace portions of a vertebral body after a corpectomy thereof. The end cap can include a first end and a second end opposite from one another, a first side and a second side opposite from one another, and a body portion extending between the first end, the second end, the first side, and the second side. The body portion can include an exterior surface for contacting an endplate of a vertebral body, and an interior cavity formed in the end cap opposite from the exterior surface. The interior cavity can be sized to receive a flange portion of the spinal implant, and can include at least one attachment structure provided in the interior cavity facilitating attachment of the end cap to the flange portion of the spinal implant. One or more of the bone screws can be received through apertures formed in the end cap and into the endplate of the vertebral body. The bone screws can be configured, upon receipt in the apertures in the end caps, to lock in place relative thereto.

Spinal implant system

A prosthesis for spinal surgery includes a spacer adapted to be secured into the bone and attached to one of a plurality of configuration plates. The configuration plates are interchangeable and each one is configured to utilize a different combination of bone screws, anchors or both. The osseointegrable component in the scapular portion includes a glenoid base-plate of asymmetric form for coupling to an articular component, such as a concave glenoid insert, for an anatomical prosthesis or a glenosphere for a reverse prosthesis.

Two outer cores disposed on opposing ends of an inner are configured to move away from each other when the inner core is actuated. The implant assembly may include removable endplate configured to engage vertebral bodies as interbody spacer or through a corpectomy. The implant may include a locking mechanism to prevent collapse or movement the implant assembly after implantation. The locking mechanism may be automatically engage after removal of an inserter instrument from the implant assembly.

A surgical instrument and method are provided for removal of a spinal implant from the intervertebral disc space. The instrument includes a carriage body for interfacing with the implant, a housing for interfacing with the vertebrae, and a handle portion having a first portion rotatably coupled with a proximal end of the housing and a second portion rotatably engageable with a proximal attachment portion of the carriage body. A central passage of the housing extends between the proximal end and a distal engagement surface of the housing. The central passage is dimensioned to mate with the carriage body. Rotation of the handle portion about an axis causes translational movement of the carriage body along the axis. A modular inserter/distractor apparatus and method and an anchor remover and method are also provided.
