Six degree spine stabilization devices and methods
An implant stabilizes two adjacent bones of a joint, while enabling a natural kinematic relative movement of the bones. Support components are connected to each bone of the joint, and a flexible core is interposed between them. The core and at least one of the support components are provided with a smooth sliding surface upon which the core and support component may slide relative to each other, enabling a corresponding movement of the bones. The surfaces may have a mating curvature, to mimic a natural movement of the joint. The core is resilient, and may bend or compress, enabling the bones to move towards each other, and or to bend relative to each other.
Systems and methods for vertebral disc replacement
The present invention provides artificial disc prostheses, methods and instrumentation for implantation and revision thereof. Each prosthesis may comprise superior and inferior end plates and a nucleus positioned between articular surfaces of the end plates. The end plates may have planar bone engagement surfaces with a plurality of self-cutting teeth. The articular surfaces of the end plates may be planar or include a flattened portion. The nucleus includes superior and inferior articular surfaces which may comprise flattened portions such that when the articular surfaces of the nucleus and the end plates are placed in cooperation in a preferred orientation, the flattened and/or planar portions are aligned. Each prosthesis may provide flexion/extension, anterior/posterior translation, lateral bending, and/or axial rotation degrees of freedom. One embodiment comprises a prosthesis with a first joint providing flexion/extension and anterior/posterior translation, and a second joint providing lateral bending and axial rotation.

Shoulder prosthesis assembly
The present application concerns a shoulder prosthesis assembly. The shoulder prosthesis assembly comprises a humeral stem including a first articulating coupling means, a base portion of a substantially disc shaped geometry including a second articulating coupling means. Said first articulating coupling means and said second articulating coupling means connect the stem to the base portion. The ratio between the circumference of the disc shaped base portion and the peripheral thickness of the disc shaped base portion is at least 18:1.

An artificial joint implant (1) comprising a first element (2) with a socket (4) and a second element (3) with a ball head (5), wherein said ball head (5) is insertable in said socket (4) such as to form a ball-and-socket connection between said first element (2) and said second element (3), and the movement of said ball head (5) in said socket (4) is restricted by means of a protrusion (6.1; 6.2) engaged in a groove (7), whereby said protrusion (6.1; 6.2) has a central axis A2 and is protruding from the surface of said socket (4) and said groove (7) is provided on the surface of said ball head (5) or vice versa; said groove (7) is positioned along a great circle of said ball head (5) or of said socket (4), said protrusion (6.1; 6.2) has a shape allowing rotation of the protrusion around its central axis A2 when received in the groove (7); and the surface roughness of the protrusion (6.1; 6.2) and/or of the groove (7) is at most 25 micrometers.
Spine stabilization device and methods

Joint implant
The present application relates to an artificial joint implant comprising a first element with a socket and a second element with a ball head. The socket is at least hemispherical and said ball head is inserted in said socket such as to form a ball-and-socket connection between said first element and said second element. Movement of said ball head in said socket is restricted in at least one degree of freedom by means of a at least one protrusion engaged in a at least one groove, wherein said at least one protrusion is provided on said socket and said at least one groove is provided on said ball head or vice versa.
Constrained dual mobility hip prosthesis system and method
A system includes a constrained acetabular insert, a dual mobility liner, and a femoral head. The constrained acetabular insert has its perimeter extending beyond hemisphere and the dual mobility liner has its perimeter extending beyond hemisphere and configured to tilt and rotate within the constrained acetabular insert. The femoral head is configured to tilt and rotate within the dual mobility liner. The constrained acetabular insert may include a plurality of tabs and the dual mobility liner may include screw threads for receiving the plurality of tabs.

A prosthetic implant is disclosed comprising: a first component comprising a first inner surface and a first outer surface, a second component comprising a second outer surface adapted to contact and engage with the first inner surface, the second component further comprising a second inner surface, a third component comprising a third outer surface adapted to contact and engage with the second inner surface, the third component further comprising a third inner surface, and a fourth component comprising a fourth outer surface adapted to contact and engage with the third inner surface; wherein the second component is rotatable relative to the first component about a first axis, the third component is rotatable relative to the second component about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis, and the fourth component is rotatable relative to the third component about a third axis perpendicular to the first axis and second axis; the first inner surface and the second outer surface are each formed with a first partial cylindrical shape, the first inner surface and the second outer surface each comprise a flat surface normal to the first axis and are engageable with one another such that the second component is rotatable relative to the first component about the first axis only, the second inner surface and the third outer surface are each formed with a second partial cylindrical shape, the second inner surface and the third outer surface each comprise a flat surface normal to the second axis and are engageable with one another such that the third component is rotatable relative to the second component about the second axis only, and the third inner surface and the fourth outer surface are each formed with a third partial cylindrical shape, the third inner surface and the fourth outer surface each comprise a flat surface normal to the third axis and are engageable with one another such that the fourth component is rotatable relative to the third component about the third axis only.
Methods and apparatus for performing spine surgery
An implant for use in spinal surgery comprises a resilient element having an inflatable cavity. It is formed of a biologically compatible material and is arranged for placement between end plates of adjacent vertebra. The implant may also include a wound disc replacement element. A method of performing spinal surgery on a patient comprises securely mounting a patient onto a patient support table; imaging a spinal region of the patient; building up a three-dimensional image file of the spinal region of the patient; storing the image file; and utilizing the image file for planning and carrying out computer controlled spinal surgery on the patient utilizing the implant. A computer-controlled surgical implant system comprises a steerable endosurgical implanting assembly operative to install the implant at a desired location in a patient; and a computerized controlled, which operates the steerable endosurgical implanting assembly.
