Surgical trays and tools for use in hip revision surgery wherein the implanted prosthesis is a reverse prosthesis comprising an acetabular ball and a femoral cup. A set of trays is provided having tools for i) separating a femoral cup from an acetabular ball, ii) separating a femoral cup from a femoral implant and iii) separating an acetabular ball from an acetabular cup. A tool for removing an acetabular cup from an acetabulum is also described. A surgical method is also provided wherein the acetabular ball and femoral cup are separated first followed by, in any order, separating the femoral cup from the femoral implant and separating the acetabular ball from the acetabular cup.

TOOL AND STATUS FOR SEPARATING A FEMORAL CUP FROM AN ACETABULAR BALL IN AN IMPLANTED HIP PROSTHESIS
Surgical tools which are used to separate from one another a femoral cup and an acetabular ball in an implanted hip replacement prosthesis. At its distal end, elements of the surgical tool engage the femoral cup and the acetabular cup. When proximal handles of the tool are squeezed toward one another, the engagement elements move away from one another. Thus, a surgeon is able to separate the femoral cup and the accetabular ball from one another without pulling the acetabular cup away from the acetabulum or the femoral cup and/or femoral implant away from the femur, thereby accomplishing the separation without disrupting any bone ingrowth.
FEMORAL CUP AND FEMORAL BALL EXTRACTOR
A surgical instrument for separating a femoral cup or a femoral ball from a femoral implant wherein the cup or ball is affixed to the implant by means of a Morse taper. A tapered wedge in the form of a two pronged fork is provided at the distal end of the instrument for placement between the cup or ball and the femoral implant. Then the proximal end of the instrument is struck with a hammer to separate the cup or ball from the femoral implant. The surgical instrument of the invention enables a surgeon to remove the cup or ball without pulling on the femoral implant and, thereby, without disrupting any bone ingrowth in the implanted femoral implant.
REVERSE HIP SYSTEM AND METHOD
A reverse hip prosthesis include an acetabular cup arrangement configured for insertion into an acetabulum of a patient and fixation therein, an acetabular ball configured for threaded attachment to the acetabular cup arrangement, a femoral stem configured for insertion into an intramedullary femoral canal of the patient, and a femoral cup arrangement configured for attachment to the femoral stem and to operatively receive the acetabular ball therein. The acetabular cup arrangement includes an anchor portion which becomes fixed to the patient's acetabulum and is the largest size suitable for the patient, and an insert which comes in different sizes and are connectable to the anchor portion, so that the most appropriate insert for the patient may be used. The acetabular cup arrangement and ball are interconnected with a threaded stem that also functions as an artificial Ligamentum Teres.
HIP JOINT DEVICE
A medical device for implantation in a hip joint of a patient, the medical device comprising a prosthetic replacement for the acetabulum, wherein the prosthetic replacement for the acetabulum comprises: a first part adapted to be fixated to the femoral bone of the patient; and a second part rotatably connected to the first part by means of a connecting member. The first part comprises a bowl-shaped inner contacting surface portion adapted to receive a bowl-shaped outer contacting surface portion of the second part such that the second part is rotatable, relative to the first part, around a point of rotation formed by the connecting member. The second part comprises a bowl-shaped inner surface adapted to receive a ball-shaped portion of a prosthetic replacement for the caput femur, adapted to be fixated to the pelvic bone, such that the prosthetic replacement for the caput femur and the second part form a ball joint in an opposite configuration. The inner contacting surface of the second part comprises an equator line being the largest circumference of the inner contacting surface, and at least one extending portion extending beyond the equator line and being adapted to clasp the ball-shaped portion of the prosthetic replacement for the caput femur.
BALL AND CUP IMPACTORS FOR IMPLANTING A HIP PROSTHESIS
New surgical instruments and methods used to implant elements of a reverse hip prosthesis in a patient are described. The instruments are impactors which are struck with a hammer at their proximal ends after the instrument has been used to position the implant element in the patient. An acetabular cup impactor has inclination and anteversion rods which are used to position the acetabular cup optimally in the acetabulum. An acetabular ball impactor affixes the acetabular ball in the acetabular cup by means of a Morse taper. And a femoral cup impactor affixes the femoral cup in the femoral stem by means of a Morse taper.
Hip joint device and method
A medical device for treating hip joint osteoarthritis in a human patient by providing at least one artificial hip joint surface is provided. The hip joint having a ball shaped caput femur as the proximal part of the femoral bone with a convex hip joint surface towards the centre of the hip joint and a bowl shaped etabulum as part of the pelvic bone with a concave hip joint surface towards the centre of the hip joint. The medical device comprises the artificial hip joint surface comprising at least one of; an artificial caput femur or an artificial caput femur surface comprising, a convex form towards the centre of the hip joint, and an artificial acetabulum or an artificial acetabulum surface comprising, a concave form towards the centre of the hip joint. The artificial convex caput femur or the artificial convex caput femur surface is adapted to be fixated to the pelvic bone of the human patient and the artificial concave acetabulum or artificial concave acetabulum surface is adapted to be fixated to the femoral bone of the human patient.
HIP JOINT DEVICE
A locking member for implantation in a hip joint of a patient is provided. The hip joint has a caput femur integrated with a collum femur having a center axis extending longitudinal along the collum and caput femur in the center thereof. The locking member is adapted to assist in the fixation of a medical device, having an artificial hollow caput femur surface, to the collum and/or caput femur, wherein said artificial caput femur surface comprises at least one extending portion adapted to clasp a portion of the caput and/or collum femur, and wherein said locking member comprises an element adapted to lock said artificial caput femur surface such that the caput femur remains clasped and restrained in said artificial caput femur surface.
