HIP JOINT DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD
An implantable medical device for implantation in a hip joint is provided. The medical device comprises: at least one artificial hip joint surface adapted to replace at least the surface of at least one of the caput femur and acetabulum. At least one artificial hip joint surface comprises: a positioning hole with at least one opening in said at least one artificial hip joint surface. The hole is adapted to be placed and dimensioned such that the medical device is adapted to be fitted using a positioning shaft and at least partly surround the shaft, for positioning the at least one artificial hip joint surface in a desired position in the hip joint. The hole is adapted to be fitted using the positioning shaft, when the shaft is stabilized and placed in at least one of the femoral bone and the pelvic bone for positioning said medical device inside the hip joint.
Reverse total hip replacement
A reverse total hip prosthesis is characterized by a femoral cup component and an acetabular ball component and is used for reconstruction of a hip joint. The prosthesis reverses the mechanics across the joint medializing the center of rotation, preventing dislocation in a posterior direction. Both ball and socket portions of the components lie outside of bone enabling larger sizing of the femoral and acetabular components improving stability, regardless of the size of the patient's anatomy. A method for reverse hip prosthesis implantation eliminates reaming through the base of the acetabulum preserving acetabular bone stock.
Universal prosthetic head for hip prosthesis
A prosthetic head with a body having the shape of a cup shaped as a hemispherical cap provided with an external surface, an internal surface and a lower edge shaped as a circumference, fixing means to fix the prosthetic head to the cotyle, and a projection abutting from the internal surface of the prosthetic head in such manner to define an annular step, and a truncated-conical portion obtained in the internal surface of the body of the prosthetic head starting from the lower edge of the prosthetic head, the truncated-conical portion of the prosthetic head being suitable for being coupled in conical coupling mode with a truncated conical part of an insert intended to be inserted in the prosthetic head. he projection is shaped as a portion of a spherical cap.
Tool and method for separating a femoral cup or a femoral ball from a femoral implant
A surgical tool and method for separating a femoral cup or a femoral ball from an implanted femoral implant without disturbing the femoral implant. The tool is comprised of upper and lower lever arms which turn on an adjustable fulcrum. The upper lever arm has a distal end adapted to engage a femoral cup or a femoral ball and the distal end of the lower lever arm engages the implant. Proximal ends of the lever arms engage a drive assembly which is used to cause the distal ends to move away from one another thereby separating the femoral cup or ball from the femoral implant.
Artificial hip joint comprising composite ball
An artificial hip joint with a composite ball head includes an artificial acetabulum (1) and a composite ball head (2); wherein an internal surface of the artificial acetabulum (1) cooperates with an external surface of the composite ball head (2), and the composite ball head (2) can rotate within the artificial acetabulum (1); the internal surface of the artificial acetabulum (1) is directly in contact with the composite ball head (2) without a liner therebetween; the composite ball head (2) comprises a metal ball head (22) and a non-metallic shell (21) wrapped around an external surface of the metal ball head (22). For the composite ball head (2), the metal ball head (22) is wrapped with a non-metallic shell (21), which has large supporting force capability, has strong bearing capacity, effectively reduces the contact stress of the non-metallic shell (21), is stable and reliable.
INTERLOCKING REVERSE HIP PROSTHESIS WITH REMOVEABLE TAPERED CENTRAL POST
In interlocking reverse hip prosthesis including an acetabular cup having an opening in the central portion of the cup having implanted in the acetabular cavity. The opening has a circular extending wall protruding into the concave portion of the cup at a distance at least equal to the diameter of the opening. The inward extension of the cup provides a female Morse taper suited for receiving the mail Morse taper post of the acetabular ball. After implantation of the acetabular cup, the surgeon can easily secure the cup to the acetabular bone using several screws without the interference of the central peg (as in prior implants). The femoral ball is then attached to the cup via central Morse taper.
Joint device and method
A mould adapted to be introduced into a joint of a human patient for resurfacing at least one carrying contacting surface of said joint is provided. The mould is adapted to receive material for resurfacing at least one carrying contacting surface of said joint. The mould is further adapted to be resorbed by the human body or melt after having served its purpose.
Tool and method for separating a femoral cup from an acetabular ball in an implanted hip prosthesis
Surgical tools which are used to separate from one another a femoral cup and an acetabular ball in an implanted hip replacement prosthesis. At its distal end, elements of the surgical tool engage the femoral cup and the acetabular cup. When proximal handles of the tool are squeezed toward one another, the engagement elements move away from one another. Thus, a surgeon is able to separate the femoral cup and the acetabular ball from one another without pulling the acetabular cup away from the acetabulum or the femoral cup and/or femoral implant away from the femur, thereby accomplishing the separation without disrupting any bone ingrowth.
Reversed Joint Prosthetic With Cup Having a Centered and Aligned Post
A prosthetic device configured to function as a joint has a first joint component configured to be fixed to a first bone and a second joint component configured to engage the first joint component. The second joint component has an anchoring base configured to be fixed to a second bone, and a cup configured to be connected to the anchoring base. The cup has a cylindrical wall defining an outer surface of the cup, a cavity formed by a spherical recess inside of a circular edge at a top of the cylindrical wall, and an attachment post extending away from the cavity and configured to connect to the anchoring base. The attachment post is aligned with a center of a circle defined by the circular edge and an axis of the attachment post is parallel to the cylindrical wall.
Hip joint method
A surgical or arthroscopic method for resurfacing at least one surface of a hip joint of a human patient using a medical device comprising a first sealing member. The hip joint has an acetabulum surface and a caput femur surface and the method comprises the steps of creating at least one hole passing into the hip joint, placing the first sealing member between the acetabulum surface and the caput femur surface, thereby creating a sealed hollow space between the acetabulum and the caput femur using the first sealing member, and injecting a material into the sealed hollow space, and thereby creating an artificial hip joint surface.
