A modular femoral prosthesis system for an orthopedic hip implant and method of use is disclosed. The prosthesis system includes a femoral stem component and a plurality of collar components configured to be selectively coupled to the stem component in a fixed position adjacent to a neck of the stem component. Each of the collar components includes a base and is configured to secure an assembled femoral prosthesis to a patient's surgically prepared femur to provide stability for the assembled femoral prosthesis.

The hole is adapted to be placed and dimensioned such that the medical device is adapted to be fitted using a positioning shaft and at least partly surround the shaft, for positioning the at least one artificial hip joint surface in a desired position in the hip joint. The hole is adapted to be fitted using the positioning shaft, when the shaft is stabilized and placed in at least one of the femoral bone and the pelvic bone for positioning said medical device inside the hip joint.

A drive mechanism can be configured to interface with the geared exterior surface of the sleeve, causing a device utilizing such a mechanism to expand or lift between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration.
