System and method for modifying talocalcaneal relationship in a foot
A system for modifying a talocalcaneal spatial relationship in a foot in a body, including a subtalar spacer having an articulating surface and implanted in the sinus tarsi of the foot and a fastener that fastens the subtalar spacer to a bone surface in the foot, in which the articulating surface of the subtalar spacer directs relative movement between the calcaneus and the talus of the foot.
REVISION TOTAL ANKLE IMPLANTS
In some embodiments, a revision implant includes a body extending between a first planar surface and a second planar surface and a head extending from the first planar surface of the body. The head is configured to couple the revision implant to at least one additional component of a multi-component prosthesis. At least one coupling mechanism is configured to couple the body to a first bone.
JOINT OR SEGMENTAL BONE IMPLANT FOR DEFORMITY CORRECTION
An implant is provided for use in an ankle joint between reconditioned end surfaces established on a distal end of an upper tibia bone and an opposing lower talus bone. The implant comprises a substantially porous rigid component adapted to be anchored against the upper tibia reconditioned end surface and the lower talus reconditioned end surface. The component defining an opening therethrough. An intramedullary nail is configured to pass through the opening in the component when the nail is driven through the talus and into the tibia.
Subtalar joint implant
A subtalar joint implant (20) is disclosed for replacing a natural subtalar joint existing between the talus (102) and calcaneum (104) bones of a patient. In an embodiment the implant comprises talar (22) and calcaneal (24) portions that are configured to slide over each other in the implanted state. The implant is shaped so that the sliding is constrained to trajectories that involve pivoting of the talar portion relative to the calcaneal portion about a pivot point (36) or a line (38) of pivot points.
ADJUSTABLE WEDGE
An adjustable wedge can be used in an Evans technique foot and ankle reconstructive wedge surgery. The adjustable wedge can include a slide. The slide can be positioned to a suitable location on a patient's calcaneus, then fastened to the calcaneus through first and second holes through the slide at opposite ends of the slide. The adjustable wedge can include a body having a pair of wedged surfaces configured to contact the cutout of the calcaneus. The body can include a slot extending between the wedged surfaces. The slot can be sized to accommodate the slide so that the slide is slidable within the slot. A circumferential surface can extend circumferentially between the wedged surfaces. A threaded hole can extend through the circumferential surface to the slot. The threaded hole can receive a fastener, such as a set screw, to secure the slide to the body.
SYSTEM, IMPLANT, AND METHODS FOR ARTHROPLASTY
An implant system having a tibial component, a talar component, and a calcaneal component. The implant system includes a first intermediate component disposed between the talar component and the tibial component and a second intermediate component disposed between the talar component and the calcaneal component. The talar component has a first articulating surface configured to engage with the first intermediate component and a second articulating surface configured to engage with the second intermediate component. The first articulating surface is disposed on a superior surface of the talar component and the second articulating surface is disposed on an interior surface of the talar component. Also disclosed is a subtalar arthroplasty system having an intermediate component and a calcaneal component. The intermediate component has a superior surface that is shaped to articulate with a talar component. The calcaneal component has an inferior surface that configured to promote coupling to a calcaneus bone.
BONE PROSTHESIS FOR MAINTAINING JOINT OPERATION IN COMPLEX JOINTS
A prosthesis including a magnetic implant approximating the size of a bone to be replaced; a first magnetic bone implant securable to a first bone adjacent the bone to be replaced; and a second magnetic bone implant securable to a second bone adjacent the bone to be replaced. Each of the first and second magnetic bone implants have a magnetic relationship with the magnetic implant. A method of reconstructing a wrist includes removing a patient's scaphoid to create a void. The scaphoid has a plurality of adjacent bones, each of the adjacent bones comprising a surface generally facing the void. The surface of at least two of the adjacent bones is prepared by affixing a magnetic element thereto and a magnetic scaphoid implant is inserted into the void. A magnetic relationship exists between the magnetic elements and the magnetic scaphoid implant.
