ELECTROSTATIC BRAKE-BASED HAPTIC DEVICE
The present disclosure relates to a device including electrostatic brakes providing haptic kinaesthetic feedback to a user in e.g. assistive, rehabilitation or virtual reality scenarios, as well as tele-manipulation.
Wrist Brace with Enhanced Lacing
The present wrist brace includes an advantageous lacing configuration that provides a cast-like compression on a patient's forearm, wrist, and hand. Pulling the lacing mechanism equilibrates lace tension along the length of the wrist brace in a way that applies consistent compression to the patient's forearm and wrist.
Wrist guard
The present invention relates to a wrist guard and provides a wrist guard that does not pressurize the entire wrist portion but allows for pressurizing only the radius portion and the ulna portion, thereby not only performing a wrist protection function in a stable manner, but also not hindering blood circulation since other portions of the wrist are not pressurized, and thus may be conveniently used since side-effects such as hand numbness or hand swelling do not occur even when wearing same for a long period, and the position and thickness of a pressurizing pad for pressurizing the radius portion and the ulna portion of the wrist may be adjusted according to the needs of a user, and thus the wrist guard may be more conveniently used since same may be altered into an optimal state according to physical conditions of the user or environmental conditions.
THUMB BRACE
A thumb brace for at least partially immobilizing a thumb of a user is provided. The thumb brace includes a first curved support element configured to be disposed on a heel of a hand along an intercarpal articulation of the thumb and in a palmar gutter of the hand. The thumb brace includes a second curved support element coupled to the first curved support element and configured to be disposed on a palm of the hand along a metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. The thumb brace includes a third curved support element configured to be disposed on a backside of the hand along the intercarpal articulation of the thumb. The thumb brace includes a fourth curved support element coupled to the third curved support element and configured to be disposed on the backside of the hand along the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. Related methods are also provided.
SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS THEREFOR FOR USE IN TREATING A BONE FRACTURE
The specification describes improvements to splints for use in treatment of bone fractures, having particular application for treatment of distal radius fractures. The splints are adjustable, and may be provided in a range of sizes, allowing them to be better customised to a treatment of a patient. In addition, embodiments of the splints are configured for use in treating distal radius fractures treated by surgical fixation.
Support structure
A support and corresponding system and method of using and producing the support, the support being for supporting a joint or body part of a wearer, the support having at least one rigid first support member, at least one fixing device for attaching the support to the wearer, and at least one second support member extending at an angle from the first support member. Optionally, the joint is a joint between first and second body parts, and the first body part is movable or pivotable relative to the second body part via the joint, and the support is arranged such that at least one of the fixing devices is operable to fix the support to the first body part, the at least one rigid support member covers at least part of at least one side of the first body part and extends over at least part of at least one side of the joint, the second support member is configured to extend to another side of the second body part to the first support member, the first support member is adapted to limit motion of the second body part and/or joint in a first direction, and the second support member is configured to limit motion of the second body part in a second direction.
DECORATIVE SPLINT OR CAST MATERIAL
A decorative splint material includes a moisture-curable material adapted to be wetted and molded into a splint configuration that conforms to an anatomical body part. The material hardens via a curing process to retain the splint configuration. The splint material includes a plurality of decorative elements integrated with the splint material. The decorative elements are provided on a substrate which is overlaid onto the moisture-curable material, and the substrate is overlaid with a flexible sheet having a plurality of openings which align with the decorative elements. The decorative elements are retained by the sheet of splint material when the sheet is wetted, molded into a splint configuration, and hardened.
Orthopedic device, method, and system for making an orthopedic device
An orthopedic device comprises a body having a monolithic structure and arranged to form a closed circumference in a secured configuration, the body having a predetermined shape in an unsecured configuration. The body is formed continuously without interruption from at least one polymeric material. A method for making the orthopedic device includes providing a schematic including a model representing a body part for which the orthopedic device is intended, providing at least one array of coordinates and indicia corresponding to the coordinates proximate to the model at a plurality of locations along the model, and providing a scale set corresponding to the coordinates. The dimensions obtained from measuring the body part may be used to form a custom-shaped orthopedic device.
A SPLINT FOR AN INFANT
The invention relates to a splint for an infant. It has a body including an insert of a malleable material, wherein the body has a longitudinal axis, a first arm extending from an edge of the body in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis; and a second arm, spaced apart from the first arm, extending from the edge of the body in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The arms wrap around the limb of the infant and provide a surface for using medical tape or the like, thus avoiding the need for the tape to come into contact with the skin of the infant. In addition, the malleable insert allows the splint to be deformed and hold its shape if the splint is to be used on a joint of the limb.
