The leg gasketing system may include an inner cuff and an outer cuff. The inner cuff may include an inner cuff folded edge and an inner cuff material edge and the outer cuff may include an outer cuff folded edge and an outer cuff material edge such that the web of material is folded laterally inward to form the outer cuff folded edge and folded laterally outward to form the inner cuff folded edge.
ABSORBENT ARTICLES INCLUDING IMPROVED ELASTIC PANELS
An absorbent article including a side panel having an ultrasonically bonded, gathered laminate is provided. The laminate has an elastomeric layer and a substrate and is joined to the absorbent article chassis at a chassis attachment bond and positioned in one of a first or second waist region. The ultrasonically bonded, gathered laminate also includes an ear structural feature comprising a surface modification to the substrate and comprising at least one of the following: embossing, apertures, perforations, slits, melted material or coatings, compressed material, secondary bonds that are disposed apart from a chassis attachment bond, plastic deformation, and folds.
Elasticated materials with directional stretch properties
Elasticated materials and absorbent articles comprising elasticated materials are disclosed. In an embodiment, an elasticated material may comprise a first layer bonded to a second layer by first bonds and second bonds. A plurality of elastomeric strands may extend between the first layer and the second layer. A first bond and a second bond are disposed on opposite sides of a first strand and are separated by a longitudinal distance less than an un-tensioned diameter of the first strand, and a third bond and a fourth bond are disposed on opposite sides of a second strand and are separated by a longitudinal distance less than an un-tensioned diameter of the second strand. The first bond forms a first angle with respect to the first strand, the third bond forms a second angle with respect to the second strand, and the first angle is different than the second angle.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE
An absorbent article has front and back surface sheets, and an absorbent body disposed within the front surface sheet and back surface sheet laminate. The absorbent article is further provided with a stretchable waist member disposed within the laminate in a manner enabling stretching in the width direction, and a pair of stretchable side members formed on the peripheral edge of the laminate in a manner enabling stretching in the width direction. One member and the other member of the pair of stretchable side members are formed, respectively, on one end and the other end of the laminate in the width direction. The stretchable waist member overlaps with each of the pair of stretchable side members in the lengthwise direction, is disposed further on the non-skin side than the absorbent body in the thickness direction, and overlaps with the absorbent body in the thickness direction but is not joined thereto.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE WITH EXTENSIBLE EARS
An absorbent article has a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; first and second opposing longitudinal side edges, a front waist region and a back waist region; and a first and second back ear extending outwardly from the first and longitudinal side edges in the back waist region, respectively. The first and second back ears have an engineering strain greater than about 8% at about or below 2N of force when measured according to the Back Ear Extension Test, and a roughness Ra lower than about 300 m when measured according to the Roughness Test.
Textured laminate structure, absorbent articles with textured laminate structure, and method for manufacturing
A textured laminate structure and absorbent articles having a component formed of the textured laminate structure are disclosed. The textured laminate structure may have a first layer formed of a nonwoven web having a preexisting pattern of first apertures therethrough, a second layer, and one or more elastic members disposed between the first and second layers in a prestrained condition. The laminate structure may be discontinuously joined or bonded such that the first layer is joined or bonded to the structure in first portions and unjoined or unbonded to the structure in second portions. The structure provides a stretch laminate with tactilely and visually interesting features, and may be used to form components of a disposable absorbent article such as a side panel thereof.
Absorbent article in the form of boxer shorts and method for making thereof
An absorbent pant article in the form of boxer shorts includes a garment shell including a front body panel, a back body panel and a crotch panel made of elastic web material. The pant also includes an absorbent core, side seams connecting the front body panel to the back body panel, a pair of leg openings and hanging legs. The leg openings are located in the crotch panel and do not extend into the front and back body panels, and side seams extend into the crotch panel. The width of the crotch panel in a relaxed condition of the elastic web material, as measured between the side seams of the article, is at least 7% larger than the width of any of the front and back body panels in a relaxed condition of the respective elastic web material.
Bridged absorbent structure
An absorbent structure includes a first area of fibrous absorbent material and a second area of fibrous absorbent material. The first area has a greater basis weight than the second area. The second area includes a plurality of segments separated by vertical interfaces. Each of the vertical interfaces has a width less than 1 cm. Bridging of fibrous absorbent material extends across the vertical interfaces.
Elastic strap part for diaper closure
An elastic diaper part has an inelastic substrate layer having a wide inner end for connection to a diaper and a narrow and opposite outer end spaced in a stretch direction from the inner end, narrower than the inner end, and adapted for connection to a closure. An elastic film is juxtaposed and generally contiguous with the substrate layer, and there is an array of parallel adhesive strips extending transversely of the direction between the substrate layer and the elastic film. Each strip adheres the film to the substrate layer, and the strips are each of a respective strip width and separated by spaces each of a respective spacing width. The strip and/or spacing width varies from the inner end to the outer end such that the diaper part stretches uniformly between its inner and outer ends when stretched in the direction.
Process for making a refastenable side seam, apparatus and article having that refastenable side seam
A process and an apparatus for making a refastenable side seam of an hygienic absorbent article efficiently, without the need to remove scrap and which allows refastenable side seams to be obtained which are ergonomic, aesthetically pleasing, easily identifiable by the user and such that they do not reduce the wearability of the article. The disclosure also relates to an hygienic absorbent article provided with at least one refastenable side seam. The disclosure also relates to a process and an apparatus for carrying out one or more operations on elastic panels usable for making an hygienic absorbent article provided with at least one refastenable side seam.
