A storage device (30) for storing a pen needle assembly (10) includes a housing (30) having first wells (44) with a dimension for receiving the pen needle assembly and second wells (46) for receiving an inner shield (24) of the pen needle assembly. The second wells (46) have a diameter less than a diameter of the first wells (44). An ejector (40) in the housing (34) can be actuated to eject the used needle hub (16) and outer covers (22) from the first well (44) and the inner shield (24) from the second well (46) for disposal. A method of coupling a pen needle delivery device to a needle hub is also provided.

An injection device having a distal end, and including a needle located inside the injection device in an initial position, wherein the needle is moveable to a puncturing position in which the needle projects from the distal end, an open region located distally relative to the needle in the initial position of the needle and having a dimension, a reduction piece moveable relative to the opening region whereby the dimension may be reduced and a holding member that latchingly connects to the reduction piece and a product container holder.

The invention relates to a needle sheath remover comprising a cap (10) removably attached to a housing of a medicament delivery device, a sheath grabber (20) connected to said cap and configured to be engageable to a needle sheath (42) of a medicament container positioned (46) within said medicament delivery device, wherein the cap and the sheath grabber are axially movable in relation to each other and wherein the sheath grabber and the cap are configured to interact with each other such that upon removal of the cap from the housing, the sheath grabber is capable of engaging and removing said needle sheath.

A syringe retaining apparatus may include a syringe having a barrel with a main portion and a transition portion, and a needle extending from the transition portion of the barrel. The apparatus may include a protective cap removably mounted on the syringe and configured to receive the needle of the syringe and at least a portion of the transition portion of the barrel of the syringe. The protective cap may have an open proximal end and a closed distal end, and an interior surface and an exterior surface. The apparatus may have a locking structure configured to permit removal of the protective cap from the syringe when the syringe is inserted to a first depth insertion into the cap and resist removal of the protective cap from the syringe when the syringe is inserted into the protective cap to a second depth of insertion.

A grasping collar is featured that has a flexible main body having an exterior surface with surface cavities configured for finger reception; a hole extending within an interior region of the body along an X-axis direction and being a through-hole relative to the body; an elongated slit extending in the X-axis direction, and in a radially inward direction from an exterior surface of the body into communication with the hole, the elongated slit including a thinner slit section extending in the X-axis direction for a portion of an overall length of the body as well as a wider slit section extending in the X-axis direction for a remaining portion of the overall length of the body. Methods of utilizing and assembling the grasping collar are also featured.

Provided is a cassette unit suitable for use with an auto-injector having an electrically powered drive unit. The cassette unit has a housing defining a cassette unit housing cavity and a needle projection aperture. The cassette unit housing cavity is arranged for receipt of a syringe. The syringe has a barrel for containing a volume of a liquid drug formulation, the barrel defining a flange at the rear end thereof and a forward shoulder at the forward end thereof; a hollow needle at a front end of the barrel, the hollow needle defining a needle tip; and a plunger that is axially movable within the barrel. The cassette unit includes, in contact with the plunger and axially movable within the barrel, a plunger slaving part arranged such that when a drive load is applied to a rear drive-receiving face thereof the drive load is evenly transmitted to the plunger.

An apparatus and method of automatically and safely removing a needle from a syringe assembly while retaining a syringe hub as part of the syringe assembly is generally described. A needle containment device is provided, which may include a needle handling apparatus and a shutter mechanism assembly. The needle handling apparatus is configured for receiving at least a portion of a syringe assembly including at least a needle and a syringe hub, wherein a first clamping mechanism is configured to clamp the syringe hub and a second clamping mechanism is configured to clamp the needle, so that the needle is safely and automatically removed from the syringe hub.

A device for safe and easy removal of a rigid needle shield from a syringe, said device comprising a wall with an inner and an outer surface, the inner surface of the wall defining a tubular hollow portion along the longitudinal axis of the a rigid needle shield, said inner wall comprising a recess adapted to receive a compressible gasket movable within said recess along said longitudinal axis from a portion of the recess wherein said gasket is in a relatively uncompressed state to a portion of said recess wherein said gasket is in a relatively compressed state compared to the relatively uncompressed state, wherein said recess is arranged so that the gasket grips the rigid needle shield in the compressed state.

A cap remover for removing a cap covering a needle of a medical injector includes a body having an insertion portion at its a proximal end configured to at least partially accommodate the cap, and a grabbing portion at its distal end having an internal cavity which includes an extraction member having a series of laminas extending radially and inwardly from the ring.

An apparatus for unsheathing and resheathing a needle device. The apparatus has a housing, a cam member that is movable in an axial direction relative to the housing, a ratchet member that is rotatable relative to the housing and movable in the axial direction between a first position and a second position upon movement of the cam member, and a clamp having at least two jaw members, configured to receive at least a portion of a needle sheath. In the first position of the ratchet member, the jaw members are in an open configuration for receipt or release of the needle sheath, and in the second position of the ratchet member, the ratchet member and/or the cam member holds the jaw members in a gripping position for gripping the needle sheath.
