Automatic injection devices (i.e., auto-injectors) and methods are disclosed that use gas-generating chemical reactions for parenteral delivery of therapeutic fluids. The generated gas may place the auto-injector in a punctured configuration to puncture a patient's skin with a needle, an injected configuration to deliver the therapeutic fluid through the needle and into the puncture site, and/or a retracted configuration to withdraw the needle from the puncture site.

Safety syringe having a retracting needle and being pre-fillable with two active ingredients

The single-use safety syringe having a manual and/or automatic retracting needle preventing re-use thereof comprises a needle, a piston with a tightening seal and a cylindrical body having, at an end thereof, a connector provided with a calibrated attaching hole for the needle and open, at another end thereof, for inserting the piston, comprising, internally of the cylindrical body, a separating seal of a first chamber comprised between the separating seal and the connector in which a first active ingredient is positioned and a second chamber comprised between the separating seal and the tightening seal in which a second active ingredient is positioned, the separating seal having a connecting channel between the first and second chamber, closed by a pressure limiting valve, first engaging means further being provided, activatable for engaging the separating seal to the needle and second engaging means activatable for engaging the separating seal to the piston.

MEDICAL INJECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A fluid dispensing device adapted for intramuscular injection into a living organism is provided. The device has an energy storage arrangement providing energy in at least two bursts. The first burst is provided from a first energy source and is that which is necessary to pierce the skin of the living organism and insert the needle to the injection site. The second burst is provided by a second energy source and is that which is necessary to pump the fluid out of the reservoir and into the living organism. Optionally, the remaining energy is used to retract the needle out of the living organism. Together with a prescribed operating sequence of the device, use of the two sources of energy contained in the device is optimized to provide the at least two bursts of energy.

Safety Syringe and Dosage Verification System

A dosage verification system for use prior to administering an injection of a medicinal fluid drawn into a medical syringe, the system comprising a medical syringe having a barrel with an outwardly facing, flat indicia display surface, plunger having a plunger seal disposed inside and slidably engaging an inwardly facing wall of the barrel and a plunger handle projecting rearwardly from the barrel, and a hypodermic needle projecting forwardly from the barrel, all in combination with an imaging device configured to view and selectively capture, store or transmit a digital image of the plunger position relative to the barrel when a dose of the medicinal fluid is drawn into the fluid chamber of the barrel prior to an injection to verify and provide a record of the dosage drawn, and to alert a user prior to injection when an incorrect dosage is drawn into the fluid chamber of the syringe.

Compact injector systems and methods

Devices and methods for a compact injector are provided with a compact configuration for ease of carrying or storage, and an activated configuration ready for injection. In the compact configuration, a plunger and a needle are both retracted into the injector housing, and upon actuation to the activated configuration, the plunger extends proximally and the needle extends distally, ready for injection. An extendable needle shield is also provided to block visibility of the needle during injection, and to reduce the risk of inadvertent needle stick at other times, including disposal.

INJECTION DEVICE

Provided is an injection device including an engagement releasing mechanism configured to release engagement between a plunger and an engaging member and to cause the plunger to be located at an end point in a manner that the plunger moves from a start point toward the end point by an urging force of a plunger urging portion and the plunger and the engaging member rotate relative to each other around a central axis.

AUTOMATICALLY RETRACTING SAFETY NEEDLE ASSEMBLY

An automatically retracting safety needle assembly configured to receive a syringe. The assembly has distal and proximal ends, and comprises: a housing, with internal housing (IH), and a base wall. A moving sleeve (MOS): at least partially within the IH; having a flange wall; axially movable. A biasing element (BE), within the IH, biasing the MOS proximally. A syringe, receiving a plunger rod; movable axially within the IH, and coupled to the MOS. An activation fork (AF), partially disposed within the IH. AF has a guiding arm coupled with the IH and the MOS; preventing motion of the MOS during non-deployment state. An automatic retraction mechanism, retracting the syringe after injection. Deployment: advance plunger rod and the AF axially (distally), until AF guiding arm allows proximal movement of the MOS, retracting the syringe. Distal advancement of plunger rod is constant without an abrupt increase in resistive force; allowing safe disposal.

BUTTON OPERATED SINGLE HAND OPENING PACKAGE

A hard package assembly is disclosed having a cam mechanism for ejecting a syringe from a hard package container with the use of a single hand. The cam mechanism including a push button and a button retainer, the push button having a trapezoidal body having a button face, a distal face adjacent and distal to the button face and a sloped face opposite the button face, the button retainer having a proximal portion, a distal portion in contact with the sloped face of the push button and a distal hook in contact with a bottom surface of the barrel flange. A method of use and a method of assembly are also disclosed.

AUTO-INJECTORS FOR ADMINISTRATION OF A MEDICAMENT WITHIN A PREFILLED SYRINGE
20230076855 · 2023-03-09 · ·

An apparatus includes a housing, a carrier, and an expandable assembly. The housing defines an opening configured to selectively place a gas chamber of the housing in fluid communication with an exterior volume. The carrier is movably disposed within the housing and is coupled to a medicament container. A proximal surface of the carrier defines a portion of a boundary of the gas chamber. The expandable assembly has a first member and a second member. The first member is coupled to an elastomeric member disposed within the medicament container, and the second member includes a valve portion. The expandable assembly transitions from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration when the elastomeric member moves within the medicament container. The valve portion moves relative to the opening when the expandable assembly transitions from the first to the second configuration, placing the gas chamber in fluid communication with the exterior volume.
