A safety syringe system that automatically shields a needle after an injection. A plunger extends into a barrel. An elastic return construct is provided that has at least one stretchable arm. The elastic return construct engages the barrel and positions each stretchable arm along the exterior of the barrel. A safety shield is provided that slides over a first end of the barrel. In a first position, the needle is protected by the safety shield. In a second position, the needle is exposed. The safety shield engages and stretches the elastic return construct when moved from the first position to the second position. A locking mechanism is used to lock the safety shield into its second position. The locking mechanism is released by elements displaced by movement of the plunger.

SAFETY HOUSING BASED IMPLANT/MEDICAMENT INJECTING SYSTEM

A safety housing based implant/medicament injecting system. System includes a needle assembly prefilled implant/medicament for injection and an injecting needle/cannula, a housing for accommodating the needle assembly under usual bias inside said housing, a plunger means having a plunger rod configured for stage wise forward motion including an initial injecting plunger forward motion with the needle assembly within the housing to first engage the needle assembly with the housing and subsequent continuing injecting plunger forward motion independent of the needle assembly for injecting of the implant/medicament, and post injecting return of the needle assembly secured inside said housing blocking any subsequent use thereof.

Needle capture retractable needle safety syringes

Needle assemblies for retractable needle syringes include a needle, a needle seal, and a needle retainer, wherein the needle includes one or more barbs substantially at its proximal end. The needle retainer engages an optional needle-over-mold component that is fixedly attached to the needle. The needle-over-mold may be connected to the distal surface of the needle seal and may travel, such as by being a couple component, with the needle during the operation of the syringe. A safety syringe includes a barrel having a needle assembly mounted at a distal end and a plunger assembly mounted at a proximal end. A drug may be contained in a drug chamber of barrel, between the plunger assembly and needle assembly, proximally of the needle seal for drug delivery to a user. The plunger assembly includes a plunger seal having a needle-engaging portion to capture the needle at the barb for retraction.

Safety syringe

One embodiment is directed to a safety syringe system, comprising: an off-the-shelf syringe assembly comprising a syringe body and a plunger tip; a needle assembly removably coupleable to the distal end of the syringe body such that medicinal fluid may be transferred through a retractable needle coupled to a needle housing comprising the needle assembly upon insertion of the plunger tip relative to the syringe body; and a plunger control assembly coupled to the plunger tip and configured to facilitate manual insertion of the plunger tip relative to the syringe body; wherein upon insertion of the plunger tip to a final insertion state and release of an associated manual insertion load, the plunger tip may be proximally withdrawn, pulling the retractable needle proximally relative to the needle housing to a safe locked and retracted state wherein it is no longer exposed for injection.

Safety housing based implant/ medicament injecting system

Syringe with multifunctional needle holder and retainer ring assembly

A syringe for medical use, the syringe having a selectively retractable needle and a multifunctional needle holder and retainer ring assembly including a needle holder with a head section having an inwardly tapering frustoconical section of the fluid pathway and a rearwardly facing annular surface surrounding the rear opening, and an elastomeric retainer ring with a substantially unexpanded collar extending rearwardly beyond the rearwardly facing annular surface to increase needle pushout force, reduce activation force and improve fluid flow through the syringe. Annular projections inside the retainer ring and on the outer surface of the head section of the needle holder are also disclosed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SAFETY SYRINGE

A system for serially injecting liquids includes a syringe body, proximal and distal stopper members disposed in the syringe body, a first liquid in a distal chamber, a second liquid in a proximal chamber, a plunger member, and a needle hub assembly coupled to a distal needle interface of the syringe body. The plunger member includes a needle retention feature disposed in a plunger interior, an energy-storage member disposed in the plunger interior, and an energy-storage member latching member disposed in the plunger interior. The needle assembly includes a needle having a needle proximal end feature, a hub, and a needle latching member configured to couple the needle to the hub. Manipulating the plunger member to insert the proximal stopper member distally relative to the syringe body initially expels the first liquid, then the second liquid. The needle is at least partially retractable into plunger interior.
