Shielded needle cannula

The invention relates to an injection system or a needle assembly in which a needle cannula secured to an injection device is shielded by a axially movable needle shield. Should the needle cannula be exposed to a force above a predetermined value e.g. if a user drops the injection device onto a hard surface, a locking mechanism will automatically lock and block further movement of the axially movable needle shield and thus render the injection device unusable.

Injection devices for delivering pharmaceutical compositions into the eye are described. Some devices include a resistance component for controllably deploying an injection needle through the eye wall. The resistance component may be disposed on the injector device, or on a portion of the injection device housing, or on a drug reservoir. Some devices may be removably attached to a drug reservoir, for example, through a luer connector. Other devices may comprise internal luer seal for securely connecting a drug conduit of the device to the luer cavity of a drug reservoir. Yet other devices may comprise a priming-enabling element to facilitate the drug priming of a shielded needle. Related methods and systems comprising the devices are also described.

COMPACT INJECTOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS

An apparatus for use with a syringe for providing a safety syringe, the safety syringe including a plunger configured during an inward stroke to expel a substance from a hypodermic needle attached at an open end of a barrel of the syringe, the apparatus including: a biasing member configured to bias a sheath towards a closed position at least partially covering the hypodermic needle, wherein the biasing member is configured to be released at a point on the inward stroke of the plunger to urge the sheath towards the closed position.

Method of manufacturing one of a range of autoinjectors

A method of manufacturing one of a range of autoinjectors having cartridges (600, 600, 600) with different preset fill volumes, the method comprising the steps of: a) providing a front body assembly (100b, 100c, 100c, 100c), b) providing a cartridge (600, 600, 600) of given fill volume, c) providing a rear body assembly (100a) comprising a spring-driven drive ram assembly (310, 320) configured to drive the piston of a held cartridge (600, 600, 600), d) providing a ram spacer member (400, 400, 400), the ram spacer member defining a spacing geometry of length dimension (X1, X1, X1, XS, XS, XS, XR, XR, XR) selected according to the fill volume of the cartridge (600, 600, 600), and e) assembling a front body assembly (100b, 100c, 100c, 100c), the cartridge (600, 600, 600), the ram spacer member (400, 400, 400) and the rear body assembly (100a) so that the ram spacer member (400, 400, 400) is arranged axially between the drive ram assembly (310, 320) of the rear body assembly (100a) and the piston of a held cartridge (600, 600, 600).

Safety needle devices

A safety needle device is disclosed having a hub, needle cannula, housing, tether, retractable sleeve, locking member and spring element. The tether is movably disposed in the housing, the tether having a slot with an enlarged first guide path and a narrowed second guide path extending distally from the enlarged first guide path. The retractable sleeve is configured to move from an initial position to partially expose a distal tip of the needle cannula, a retracted position to fully exposes the needle cannula, and an extended position to fully cover the distal tip of the needle cannula. The proximal movement of one or more protrusions on the retractable sleeve, rotates the tether to move the at least one or more protrusions from the enlarged first guide path of the tether to the narrowed second guide path of the tether, this rotation activating the device.

A Drug Delivery Device with a Cap
20200297917 · 2020-09-24 ·

A needle assembly for use with a drug delivery device comprises a cap releasably secured to the drug delivery device and a blocking member. The blocking member comprises a disinfectant swab and a user graspable portion. The blocking member is configured to be physically moved with respect to the needle assembly by a user. The needle assembly is configured such that in an initial position, the blocking member blocks the cap from being removed from the drug delivery device and movement of the blocking member from the initial position causes the disinfectant swab to contact a septum of a cartridge retained within the drug delivery device.

AN INJECTION DEVICE WITH A CLEANING RESERVOIR

The invention relates to a medical injection device for injection of a liquid drug. The injection device comprises a housing structure with a cartridge and needle cannula. Further an axially movable cleaning reservoir is provided which is movable in relation to the housing structure, and which cleaning reservoir contains a liquid cleaning agent. The distal tip of the needle cannula is positioned and thus cleaned inside the cleaning reservoir between subsequent injections. According to the invention, the cleaning reservoir connects to an overflow reservoir through a one-way pressure valve such that the cleaning agent and/or air is flowable from the cleaning reservoir and into the overflow reservoir.
