Automatic needle apparatus

An automatic needle device comprises a body into which a needle assembly and needle are mounted. The device also includes a needle guard to cover the needle until it is used and to lock over the needle after use so the needle is not re-exposed. The locking is accomplished with a coil spring action locking device. A container for holding the automatic needle device also facilitates the viewing of the distal end of the needle prior to use on a patient.

Retractable needle catheter insertion device

A retractable needle catheter insertion device is provided with a cannula and a needle positioned within the cannula to assist with insertion of the cannula. After insertion of the cannula into a patient, the needle can retract into a protective sleeve that contains the needle in order to reduce the chance that a medical practitioner will be inadvertently stuck by a used needle. The needle is carried by a needle support that is slidably disposed within the sleeve. A spring biases the needle support and needle toward a retracted position, and the device also includes an activation hub that works in conjunction with the needle support to control retraction of the needle. The retraction may be activated manually by the medical practitioner or may be activated automatically. A modular system and method of manufacturing is also provided in which catheters having either manually or automatic retraction can be manufactured using common parts.

Auto-injector

Auto-injector for administering a dose of a liquid medicament includes a housing to contain a syringe with a hollow needle and a stopper for sealing the syringe and displacing the medicament, the housing having a distal end and a proximal end with an orifice to apply against an injection site. A spring means, upon activation, can push the needle from inside the housing through the orifice and past the proximal end, operate the syringe to supply the dose of medicament, and retract the syringe with the needle after delivering the medicament. An activating means can lock the spring means in a pressurized state prior to manual operation and capable of, upon manual operation, releasing the spring means for injection.

SAFETY MODULE FOR INSERTION NEEDLE

A safety needle and hub module for selective connection with a medical device that includes a base and a head. The module includes a needle shield for selectively covering a distal end of a needle. A needle hub is movably received within a proximal opening of the needle shield, and extends through a passageway of the needle shield. An actuation button is movably received in opposing lateral apertures of the needle shield to engage the needle shield, the needle hub and the medical device. In a first position an upper leg of the actuation button is received in a recess of the needle hub, and a lower leg of the actuation button is received in an undercut between the base and head of the medical device. In a second position, after the actuation button is actuated, the module is removable from the medical device.

Medicament delivery device

An injection device with distal and proximal ends includes a housing, a needle-protecting sleeve that is longitudinally movable relative to the housing, a container holder that is longitudinally movable relative to the housing toward the proximal end from a non-delivery position to a delivery position, and a needle-protecting sleeve spring that is operatively coupled between the needle-protecting sleeve and the container holder such that the sleeve is longitudinally movable toward the distal end from an initial position to an activating position and toward the proximal end from the activating position to an end position. The sleeve spring is strained by a first amount when the sleeve moves from its initial position to its activating position, and by a second amount when the container holder moves from its non-delivery position to its delivery position.

A control mechanism for a medicament delivery device is provided having a medicament container connection mechanism, for connecting a medicament container with a medicament delivery member; a penetration and withdrawal mechanism, for actuating a penetration and a withdrawal sequence; a medicament delivery drive unit, for expelling a medicament; an activation mechanism, for initiating a penetration and medicament delivery sequence; a stop mechanism, for initiating a withdrawal sequence; wherein the control mechanism further comprises a control member, linearly movable between a first position and a second position, which control member is connectable to the medicament container connection mechanism, to the penetration and withdrawal mechanism, to the medicament delivery drive unit, to the activation mechanism, and to the stop mechanism.

Holder with safety shield for a drug delivery device
09789263 · 2017-10-17 · ·

A holder with a safety shield for a drug delivery device; the shield obstructing access to a needle of the drug delivery device following use thereof. The safety shield may be actively deployed, in which case the health care worker must perform an action beyond complete depression of the pusher into the body of the drug delivery device to deploy the shield. Alternatively, the safety shield may be deployed passively or automatically, in which case deployment of the shield occurs upon complete depression of the pusher into the body, with no additional action required of the health care worker. The safety shield is spring-loaded and released to its extended position by a mechanical coupling of a series of position members, including levers, formed on the holder and the drug delivery device.

Sheath protecting a cannula, and safety syringe comprising said sheath

A protective sheath (100) for a cannula (210) arranged on a hub (200) which can be fitted onto a syringe (300), the sheath including female elements intended to cooperate with male elements (201) of the hub (200) for guiding thereof, and characterized in that the female elements include a retracted position before use RBU, a retracted position during use RU, and a retracted position after use RAU, wherein the whole length of the cannula (210) is inside the sheath (100), the female elements further include an ejection position E, wherein whole or part of the cannula (210) protrudes out of the sheath (100), and further characterized in that at least two of the RBU, RU, and RAU positions are substantially transversally aligned.

Auto-injector

An auto-injector for administering a dose of a liquid medicament (M) is presented having an elongate case arranged to be held by a user, a tubular chassis telescoped in the case and biased against the case so as to protrude from the case. The injector also includes a syringe with a hollow injection needle, a drive spring and a plunger for forwarding load of the drive spring to a stopper of the syringe. A trigger button is distally arranged in or on the case, wherein the trigger button is initially coupled to the case in a manner to protrude distally from the case and interlocked to the chassis in a manner preventing the trigger button from disengaging the case.
